Meet a guide at your centrally-located hotel in Zagreb, or at Zrinjevac Park, then make the 54-mile (87-km) trip to Varazdin in a climate-controlled vehicle. As you travel to Varazdin, the guide will share an overview of the city’s fascinating history, with fun stories about Croatian life and culture.

Upon arrival, a local guide in Varazdin will join your group for a walking tour, including the Varazdin Cemetery, where gorgeous tombstones and quiet paths are overshadowed by tall, leafy trees. Follow back streets to architectural gems, and find some of the city's elegant villas—at one time, Varazdin was Croatia's wealthiest city.

Next, continue to Trakoscan Castle, 25 miles (40 km.) west of Varazdin, with a fairytale setting high on a hill. Walk the fortifications with views down to a forested valley, and get a glimpse of Croatia’s tumultuous past in the castle’s displays of weapons and armor. After exploring the castle, walk to the nearby lake, then meet back up with the driver/guide for the return trip to Zagreb.

The trip was very well organized. Maja was our guide and she was fantastic. Punctual, personable, full of knowledge, well spoken. We were the only couple on the tour and options were given to tailor it as a private tour. Varazdin & Trakoscan are beautiful, we definitely recommend this tour.

It was an excellent tour that went ahead when all other tour operators cancelled my tour saying they did not have enough participants. This tour operator always guarantee your tour regardless of anything. Tour guide came precisely in time and I was the only participant on that day. So, it was a private tour for me for the price of a group tour. She was very knowledgeable, I had enough time on each locations, she was taking my photos where ever I wanted. I really had a great day ! I definitely recommend this tour operator.

I can’t rate this tour, guide, and company high enough! The company specializes in small group day tours, and they really deliver. I was the only person who signed up, and instead of canceling most would have, they sent my guide, Karlo in a car and we had a fantastic day! He was fun and knowledgeable and attentive to my needs, and the timing of the whole trip was perfection. Never did I feel like I didn’t have enough time in any place we visited. Thank you Karlo! I truly hope to see you again when Mark and I return to Zagreb.

The sites themselves (Varazdin and Trakoscan) were just ok. But the tour guide, Luka was wonderful. He spoke excellent English (and actually had dry humor - something rare in a non-native speaker), and imparted to us lots of information about the Croatian history and other tidbits about Zagreb. In that sense, we thoroughly enjoyed the tour, and would love to go on a different tour with him someday.

There is so much to do around Zagreb. This is one of them. See the old town Varazdin and it's castle. It is a pretty place. Then go to Trakoscan castle. What a castle too. There is so much to see and learn about in this whole tour. Luca the guide is a great guy. Very knowledgeable and personable. I highly recommend this tour if you are in Zagreb.
