Saint Mark's Basilica, Piazza San Marco, 328, 30124 Venezia VE, Italy
Meet your guide at the post office near St. Mark’s Square and stroll to the Doge’s Palace, the power base of the Venetian Republic for many centuries.

Admire the exquisite Gothic exterior, and bypass the main entrance lines with your skip-the-line ticket. Pass through security, and tour the opulent rooms, adorned with masterpieces by artists like Titian and Tintoretto. As you explore, listen as your guide tells tales of Venice’s doges and their ruling councils, charting the history of the 1,000-year republic and those who shaped its fortunes.

See the stunning gold staircase as you learn its history, and follow in the steps of prisoners who once crossed the famous Bridge of Sighs to their incarceration. Hear about prisoners like Giacomo Casanova and others, and view the bleak prison itself.

Next, head for St. Mark’s Basilica, another St. Mark’s Square showpiece. Admire the ornate façade, and pass the main lines for a comprehensive tour of this Byzantine masterwork.

See the gold mosaics and marble floor inlays, and view highlights including the gold, gem-encrusted Pala d'Oro alterpiece and the icons and riches in the Treasury.

Your tour then finishes in St. Mark’s Square when your guide departs.

GOt to skip the line which is a plus, the lines were huge. The guide was informative and covered the portions in depth. Don't do a self tour where you stumble around not knowing what you are looking at

St. Mark’s square was incredible but the tour guide carried on so long she was running late for second part so she hurried her way through last part. Could have said less earlier on

The only good thing about this tour was skipping the lines. Tour was supposed to start at 10:35 AM but guide was late and tour did not start until 10:55 AM. The guided audio from the tour guide was terrible for several reasons, most notable poor audio (muffled) equipment and very broken English language from tour guide. Put those two things together and almost impossible to understand anything that was said. I cannot recommend this tour unless Viator can provide better audio equipment and better English speaking guide. We took other Viator tours on this vacation and were very good. Tour Guide English luck of the draw I assume, but the muffled audio equipment must be imporoved

We met the Guide at the Post office near St Mark's Square. The local guide was very young approx. 18years old. The group was fairly senior and there was a disabled person too. The guide did not cater for the our age group or for the disabled person. This needs to be seen as an individual rather than a group excursion. The sights and delights was not taken in due to feeling too tired from the guide over walking the group up the steps and no resting

Just enough time at both places, thoughtful guide

Spent a lot more time at Doge's Palace than St. Mark's, but that works. Learned lots of history and saw beautiful art in the palace. Has been helpful to know about the Doges system as we've visited other places like Verona. St. Mark's was a little rushed, but I got the sense that that is all that is allowed.

This tour was really interesting and informative about the Doge palace and St mark's basilica - I learnt loads about both buildings and their role in the history of Venice. However, the tour did feel a bit rushed. It would have been good if the guide had let us stay in some of the rooms a bit longer to soak it all up.

Thanks to our superb tour guide, Andrea, this was the best tour of our trip. He was knowledgeable, interesting, and passionate about all things Venice. He made our two hours totally memorable, and I would go again just to learn more about these two stunning historic buildings. Highly recommend!
