Greet your guide at Yurakucho Station and embark upon your epicurean exploration of the city. Immerse yourself in the electric atmosphere of Yakitori Alley, an atmospheric enclave replete with informal restaurants serving delectable yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). Smother this staple snack in home-made sauce then sip a sake for a refreshing aftertaste.

Next, venture to Monja Street to sample the local delicacy of monjayaki, a pan-fried pancake favored by locals. Learn about the snack’s interesting origin as you chat with your chef and listen to your pancake sizzling on the grill.

Continue to Ginza, a district thronged with confectionery shops, while learning about the rich variety of Japanese sweets. Sample a sweet then conclude your culinary tour at a local pub that serves refreshing local beverages (own expense). Bid your guide and group farewell but feel free to remain in the bar after the tour concludes.
Stop At:
Yurakucho Yokocho
We’ll begin our tour in Yakitori Alley, near Yurakucho, an area with many casual bar-style restaurants and the birthplace of yakitori, one of many Japanese people’s favourite appetizers. As many businessmen and women do after 5pm, we’ll enjoy a drink of sake or a local beer, then sample yakitori at one of the many local restaurants, each with their own “tare” (sauce) mixed with their secret ingredients.
Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes
Admission Ticket Free
Stop At:
Tsukishima Monja Street
After having a drink to go with the yakitori, we’ll travel to Tsukishima to visit “Monja” Street, where “Monja-Yaki” is said to have originated. Often compared with Okonomi-yaki in Osaka, Monja-yaki is a type of Japanese pan-fried batter with various ingredients. The ingredients are finely chopped and mixed into the batter before grilling. You’ll have the chance to watch your food being cooked, chat with the cook, and devour your Monja-yaki fresh from the hot plate. In true local style, you’ll use a small metal spatula for cutting it to pieces then chopsticks to eat with right from the grill.
Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes

Stop At:
We’ll take a quick stroll through Ginza, where you can find great confectionery shops and learn about the rich variety of traditional Japanese sweets — and, best of all, choose one to try! Usually made of rice and red beans, these sweets change based on the ingredients available at each time of year, and even their shapes are inspired by what you can find in nature during that season. Your tour ends here but don’t forget to ask for tips on what else to see do and eat during your stay. Fancy a cool local bar or a karaoke place? We’d be happy to recommend our favourites so that your night can continue. Equally, your guide can help with directions back to your accommodation or you can return to the start point with them.

Nice Tour, thanks Kiri!
, Mar 2020
We went on this tour to experience some restaurants we would not have ventured into on our own like the self cook Teppanyaki, it was great fun and food was delicious. Our host Kiri spoke good English and was very accommodating.
Great tour - a must do!

This was a great tour - Kenji our guide was lovely and very personable. The places we went to we would never have found by ourselves and we got to taste food that was really good and traditional - both the yakatori and savoury Japanese pancake were fantastic. This was by far the best tour we had while in Tokyo - could not recommend it enough. A lot of other tours are way too touristy and you don’t experience out of the ordinary things - also great to spend time with the lovely locals - this Kenji!
Not as exciting as I would have hoped for

Would have preferred more of an underground tour. This was pretty dull. We just went to two restaurants which had been booked for a group.

The food tour was a fabulous experience. I loved being lead to local, out of the way restaurants. We toasted with and talked to the locals which was such an uplifting experience. Our female guide was so helpful even regarding how to get back to the hotel. The food was delicious
Great night exploring off the path places

Our guide, Tomomi, provided our group of 9 with a great experience visiting restaurants that didn't have many tourists in them which was great. She made sure we all were taken care and understood the food and beverages. Definitely would recommend this to a friend.
Great evening, great food and new friends!

Kiri was a terrific tour guide and went above and beyond to make us all comfortable and to be sure we were enjoying ourselves. He shared so much information about Tokyo, the culture, shopping and the best part, of course, was the food! He was so knowledgeable and took us to such fun places. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking to get the flavor of Tokyo! Thank you Kiri!

Great food tour
, Oct 2019
Snoopy was a great guide. The group sampled food we've never eaten but enjoyed. We visited restaurants that were off the beaten path where the locals eat. I would tour with him again.
Wonderful Experience
, Oct 2019
This trip was wonderful. Our guide spoke good English and had a lovely personality. There were eight on our tour. Our guide took us to several different places to eat and we had some interesting local dishes that we would never have had the opportunity to experience if not for this tour. We had plenty to eat and we thoroughly recommend this tour.
