Well worth the trip!

This is a great idea! The train ride is easy and catching the bus into the Old City is simple. Be sure and ask someone to let you know on your ride back on the bus to the train station when to get off just in case you are like me and do not pay enough attention to recognize the stop. Allow at least 45 min from the bus stop to the train departure time you select in case the bus takes a while to pick you up. You definitely need to allow for a complete full day. A lot of time is spent trying to find the food vendors with the vouchers so do not let that take up valuable museum time. It is difficult to find the vendors and my only suggestion for the tour is to include photos of the vendor's store front. The Knight's Hall is amazing so allow time to enjoy it. Going through the tunnels is fun and walking along the walls is really nice. The Treasures in the Wall museum was not my cup of tea - just antiques, not ancient treasures. I wish we would have had time to visit the Turkish Baths but had a scheduled time to be back. I think we would have liked that. We knew we could not have time for everything but do allow yourself a full day. I think this is grand idea of day trip from Tel Aviv to see Akko.

Dear Renee, thank you very much for taking the time to write such a detailed review and we will for sure learn from your feedback! The idea to travel "slow" by train and discover such a unique city like e.g: Akko (Acre) which rich history, beautiful setting, market, and interesting local food options, is exactly the concept we would like to implement and assist to reach out to more individual travelers to Israel, who like to discover and travel in there own pace. We will state more clearly to first "we suggest" to visit the Knights Halls, Turkish Bath, and the Templars’ Tunnel and in between do some food tastings with the "Market card" and if time allows and you have still energy left to visit the Okashi Museum, & the Treasures in the Walls Museum. Renee, this is a great tip to ad the pictures of the food vendors shop, so it will be easier to find. We will also release an APP to be able to download prior going on the tour and having Google maps lead you to the specific restaurant for your tasting stop. We will work on this, but leave part of "the looking around", as part of the discovering the old city ;-) Renee, wishing you all the best from Israel and hope to welcome you on one of our IsraelRail tours in the near future. Bests, Henry
