It was a great trip, great guide. Interesting and beautiful. Some recommend spending the night but I feel a full day, private tour is definitely sufficient and satisfying. The town is pretty much one of yesteryear where the younger people leave to become educated and gain employment that is not available in Shirakawa-go. Most homes belong to families for many years and remain unused but held on to, so the village is largely a peak into the past and well worth seeing.
