Meet your guide and fellow foodies in central Sorrento, the seaside town's main square, to begin this tasty food tour. Let your local food-loving guide lead you through the streets of central Sorrento, explaining the food culture of the city and regaling you with interesting historical anecdotes.

During the tour, stop at several different spots: from eateries to delis, markets to dessert destinations. With Mount Vesuvius as the backdrop, stroll the streets of this charming city taking in the colorful sun-kissed houses and palaces.

The first stop is to sample the shell-shaped filled pastry called sfogliatelle at a pastricceria. But don't fill up too fast because next up is a hot-pressed sandwich known as a panini and then pali'e riso, a fried rice ball and a Neapolitan version of arancini.

Walk through a lemon grove and visit a limoncello factory, learn how limoncello is made, taste it and other liquors and lemony treats. Walk on to a family-run deli to munch on some creamy buffalo mozzarella and some cured meat, known as salumi. Wash it down with a few sips of locally brewed craft beer. Not satiated yet? Good, because the next stop is to sample some local pasta delights and wine at a trattoria.

Finish your feast with a stop at a gourmet gelato shop for a lick or two of Italian ice cream before walking off your meal back to the departure point.

Could have been better

Our friends who had previously taken this tour really liked it. We had done a food tour in London, that was so superior, this just seemed average.
Avoid at all costs

I debated whether to leave this review given the backlash previous negative reviewers have received but I think it’s only fair to save people falling for this scam. I was on the same tour as Bunny referred to below (I was the girl who left to watch the football match!). We were indeed terrified as Tamara shouted down the phone at me at 4.01pm. I hate being late and it’s not nice to delay others but it was our first day in sorrento and we got lost, easy mistake! Maybe Tamara had a bad day but it was simply unpleasant and way too expensive for what we got. We worked out that the cost of the minuscule stuff we tasted was about 15eur, so even if Viator charge 20%, there is a very hefty mark up that really isn’t warranted. I don’t need an American to give me one piece of salami and a reluctant 2 fingers of peroni in a plastic glass to experience the Sorrento food scene and neither do you! (By the way, in case Tamara responds to say I missed the best bits cause I went to watch a match, my cousin stayed for the gelato and said it was fine but not worth sticking around for when the match was so important to me)

Skip this tour and stroll about yourself

The guide was an English speaker born in America. She was often brusque and rude with us, including when we arrived 4 minutes late to the tour and she said “guess SOMEONE had their phone off!?!” In a huff because she has tried to contact us. We are in a foreign country; my phone only works when im on WiFi, duh?! Also, I’m used to food tours where each stop has a food item and a beverage. Literally my mouth was dry halfway through the tour because we had been given all dry foods (pastry, arrincini) with NO beverage. At the third stop with the cured meat and cheese I specifically asked for a drink (which wasn’t coming otherwise) and she deigned to give us each about two swigs of Peroni in a cup, as if it was something special. Then at the dinner stop I requested draft beer instead of the white table wine, and with a GLARE she huffily complied. She even got mad at one of the guests for wanting to leave early (she was going to a pub for a football match). Her friend commented “I don’t think I have ever been scared of my tour guide before.” Really only half joking. I would skip this tour and stroll around instead stopping at local food stores and walk up shops; almost ALL will give you samples, and for a couple euro more you can get great street food and avoid the middle man, or in this case the brutal middle woman. Almost forgot to mention, she actually said to us that Viator takes 20% off the top and it’s clear that she has to part with some of her “hard earned” euros to make our tour complete. My tip? Spend yours with someone else.

We loved Tamara and her knowledge of the foodie scene. We shared lots of laughs and her high energy and non rushed pace made us perfectly comfortable. The food was more than we ever expected and super delivious. Our taste buds were dancing!. We already rdcommended this to two couples!
Awesome and delicious!

Lucky me came to enjoy that tour on my own, but this was a mere coincidence. We took a stroll through Sorrento to taste the most delicious food of the local cuisine - cheese, ham, several kinds of the infamous Limoncello of course, arancine, fried zucchini blossom filled with ricotta cheese, gelato and much more. Lunch (homemade gnocchi!) and a glass of wine included. Guide Tamara was great. She told a lot about the city's history and places to go, too. So worth it! Don't eat anything before going on that tour, it was more than plenty. Grazie, Tamara! Five stars.
The stone baked pizza bread!

Tip top Tamara

Just what we needed on our first full day to discover the delights of Sorrento. More food than we could eat and from places we wouldn’t have known to go to without Tamara. We have since returned to the lunch venue for another delicious meal. Would highly recommend. Apologies to Tamara for us being slightly more hungover than we planned!

We had a fabulous time on this tour. Tamara was an informative fun gracious host. We loved the pastries at the start of the tour and we were definitely full by the end expecially as we all went for cocktails after :) Tamara has a great Rapport with all of the local restaurant owners and you could see how much she enjoyed her job. She went above and beyond and spent extra time with us and we even met her Italian husband who generously shared with us more delicious limoncello. All in all, a fun light informative tour of sorrento with a gracious host.
