Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii Tour by Bus from Sorrento

Really enjoyed this trip to Pompeii and Vesuvius. Our tour guide Antoninus (Tony) was knowledgeable, polite and fun. Everyone enjoyed the trip. For Vesuvius I would recommend wearing decent trainers and be prepared for a steep incline. Would recommend this tour.

We went on a day trip tour of Pompeii and the summit of Vesuvius. We were conveniently picked up from the hotel by the driver and tour guide that would take care of us all day, Nelo and Tony. Nelo’s expertise of the road always took us on the best route. Tony’s kindness and knowledge were in top form, always looking after the entire group and making sure his instructions and facts were well translated. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide and day. Highly recommend; thanks Nelo and Tony!

Lucia was incredibly informative and an excellent guide on our tour. However I think if we were to do this again we would go to the Hurculeum instead of Pompeii (less crowded and better preserved) but glad we had the experience. Walking up mt Vesuvius is a must do! Lunch was only €14 and the food at the chosen restaurant was delicious

I had a great time but I really didn’t want to hear about the Tour Guides personal love life! Did not pay for that.

This tour was great! You didn't see absolutely everything in Pompeii but saw the most noteworthy. It was pouring rain on Mt. Vesuvius so we couldn't go. We drove back down the mountain and the sky cleared above the mountain. so they brought is back up the mountain. Very thankful they did this.

A great tour which we highly recommend. Greeted by Daniela and welcomed onboard the bus, the day’s program was explained in full in both English & German. Once at Pompeii it was a great help having earphones to learn about its history. Mt Vesuvius is a tough climb, especially on a hot day, however it is not mandatory and our bus driver had cold water for those needing it as well as outlets to purchase food and drink from should you wish. Cannot fault this tour, even for a non-history buff like myself and Daniela is a true professional, very knowledgeable and warm. 10/10!

interesting trip with a lot of information, but between Pompeii and Vesuvius there was a lunch break in an isolated place where you did not have what to do if you did not eat.

Good overview of Pompeii but you need a full day at least if you want a deep dive. Mt Vesuvius time was all that was needed. the food place that we all werre taken too was more like a fsat food catering hall I suggest you go on your own if you can. Our tour guide Roberta was awesome she made it worth it.

It was really great to be able to do both of these things in one day with lunch in the middle. The climb up Vesuvius and the tour of Pompeii were great. One thing to know ahead of time though is that they bring you to a restaurant for lunch in between the activities. Many of us thought that this was included in the price of the tour but it was not, we got a bill at the end of lunch. The voucher does not say that lunch is included, but the tour guide ushered us in as if we were obligated to eat there or as if it were an included activity. Just make sure to bring extra cash for that lunch.

Amazing tour and very well organised. The pick up point in Sorrento is a mission even after detailed instructions as it's not that obvious for those just visiting! However, once on the tour bus, we got plenty of information and Rafy, our guide was funny and knowledge. We first went to Pompeii on a hot day and saw the main sights together, where she gave the details. She manouvered us in and out of busy areas very deftly! However, I definitely think we could have spent more time visiting some other highlights here rather than spend 2 hours at the lunch place! That was termed optional for 14 euros each but when you are on a tour bus, the choices are limited. The restaurant is large and looks grand, and the lunch menu was varied and food fresh, unlike others that I have been to, so that was good. We then moved up to Mt Vesuvius, which had incredible views and I totally loved the journey as well. It is so atmospheric with thick forested areas around you - I wasn't expecting that. Also, the grand houses along the way are so neat and again something I wasn't expecting on an active volcano. You get to the base on the bus and from there, you can walk uphill on your own. Do take the cane that the guy at the start offers we paid him a euro at the end - even with sport shoes and being fit, the gravel on the mountain is pretty loose so that will definitely come in handy. It had rained that morning so the ground was a bit more slippery as well. All along the way, there was a big cloud cover and on the crater too. it didn't bother us as it is such a special thing to do and was the highlight of our trip. It takes around 20 minutes at least to walk up and down, longer if you have frequent stops, but the tour gives enough time to do this.
