Kusadasi Port
9:00 AM
After your ship arrives at Kusadasi port, meet your guide for your full-day private shore excursion to Ephesus, Didyma and Miletus. Buckle up in an air-conditioned minivan and enjoy listening to the interesting history of these famous archaeological sites during a journey to Miletus.

Then, discover the ancient Greco-Roman city, Miletus, which rests adjacent to the opening of the River Meander. Learn about its four important coastal harbors that powered trade and how the city dissolved after the river filled with silt. Admire monuments such as Delphinium temple and the imposing Theater of Miletus that hosted 25,000 people during exciting gladiator matches. Plus, hear details about the classic Roman bathhouses.

Next, voyage to Didyma and marvel at the impressive Temple of Apollo. As you enter, see the chiseled head of Medusa and listen as your guide recreates the atmosphere of this enormous Greek temple. Then, stroll through the remnants of columns and hear about the admirable oracle who resided here and is the reason this temple is almost as well known as Delphi.

Make a pit stop for lunch (own expense) and then continue to Turkey’s famed archeological site - Ephesus. Step through the Magnesia Gate and begin a comprehensive tour of Asia Minor’s former Roman capital. Follow the marble covered roads and see baths, old houses, and famous Ephesus monuments. Enjoy exploring the Fountain of Trajan, Odeon and the Temple of Hadrian. Then, capture views of the amazing Library of Celsus and the Great Theatre that once hosted 24,000 attendees for sermons by St Paul.

After you depart Ephesus, drive back to your ship at Kusadasi cruise port where your shore excursion ends.

Please note: on the day of your tour, the order of each activity visited above may be modified.

Stop At:
Ancient City of Ephesus
When your cruise ship docks in Kusadasi, join up with your private guide at the port and board an air-conditioned minivan. Then, hear about Turkey’s fascinating ancient history from your guide on route to your first stop. After roughly one hour, arrive at Miletus, one of the most important of ancient Greco-Roman cities. Set on the mouth of the River Meander, it boasted four coastal harbors and only declined in the 6th century AD when the river silted up. See its Delphinium temple, bathhouses and other monuments, including the impressive Theater of Miletus, where 25,000 spectators once gathered to watch gladiatoral contests. Continue to Didyma to admire its magnificent Temple of Apollo. Regarded as second only to Delphi, this massive Greek-era temple was the seat of a revered oracle. Stroll around the remaining columns and behold the carved head of Medusa that dominates the entrance as your guide helps you visualize the beauty of the temple at its height. After a break for lunch (own expense), visit Ephesus, probably Turkey’s most spectacular archeological site. Head inside this Greco-Roman city via its Magnesia Gate and on your 2.5-hour tour, hear how it flourished as the Roman Empire's capital in Asia Minor. Walk the marble-paved streets past shops, houses and baths, and see the Odeon, Fountain of Trajan and Temple of Hadrian. Gaze at the stunning Library of Celsus and the 24,000-seater Great Theatre, where St Paul once preached. Having explored Ephesus, return to Kusadasi cruise port, where your tour concludes.

Places visited were wonderful, but our guide lacked passion and was clearly mailing it in for a paycheck. He seemed more interested in earning his commission at the multiple stops we made during the day ... we realize it's customary to be encouraged to discover regional wares and shop at unique vendors to support the local economy, but this guide was shameful and beyond any measure of reasonable.

We had an excellent day. As soon as we walked out to the terminal our guide Jun was waiting for us and took us to our mini van. I was able to sit in the front and get some great photos. Our first stop was Miletus and Jun took us around the site, which was very interesting. Next we saw Apollo's Temple at Didyma. Once again Jun walked around with us giving us lots of interesting information and there were still some very good portraits and carvings visible. Then Jun and our driver took us for a typical Turkish lunch, which was outstanding I recommend following their advice - much better than MacDonalds! After lunch we went to Ephesus and Jun took us around she was excellent didn't rush us at all, she explained every area as we came to it and took some photos for us. It is an extremely impressive site and really gives you the feeling of being in a Roman city. The library is absolutely amazing! On the way back to the port we stopped at a carpet weaving school where the Turkish government are trying to encourage traditional crafts we were shown how they weave the carpets and how silk is spun. We actually spent 9 hours not 7 so it was an amazing day and great value for money. Jun is an outstanding guide who speaks impeccable English and goes out of her way to make sure that you get the best knowledge about every site.

Excellent tour of Ephesus. Spent the entire time in Ephesus rather than spending the time driving to Miletus and Didyma.Tour Guide had an excellent understanding of the historical events that were of interest.

I can't say enough good nor give our tour guide, pronounced Char sp? of Fez Travel, high enough praise for the job he did! It was excellent! It was great to get away from the crowds at Ephesus early in the morning and see Didyma and Miletus and THEN hit the Ephesian ruins, which were magnificent! We were blown away in Didyma when walking through the quiet, somewhat run-down town suddenly to come upon this massive ruin of Apollo's Temple! Wow!! When we first arrived there were no other tourists even there! Amazing structure! Thank you for the great tour!!!

Serdar our guide was waiting for us when we got off the ship. With just him and the driver we were able to see everything we had wanted to see as this was our second trip to Ephesus. We learned so much that day.. The temple at Didyma was a awesome sight and had a great lunch there as well. The theater at Miletus topped of the day as we could not have enjoyed the sights more. Highly recommend this shore excursion.

This was the best tour that we had on our entire 9 day Mediterranean Cruise. Our tour guide Serdar Karakas was outstanding. His knowledge of Ephesus, Didyma and Miletus was truly a learning experience for myself, my husband and my two children. Without him we would not have known what we were looking at nor any of the history behind it. We had a delicious lunch at a little place Serdar picked out. We got to enjoy some real Turkish food. And delicious Turkish beer. Though the lunch was not included in the tour price, it was worth it and not expensive. I felt like we got a real feel of the people and culture.

An unexpectedly deluxe tour that exceeded expectations. We booked a month or more in advance for 3 couples as our cruise ship excursion for the day in Kusadasi port. We got a driver and a tour guide for the price. The van was more like a small deluxe bus , with high back bucket seats that could have held more like 12 couples but we had it all to ourselves. Some of the best and most interesting ruins of our trip. Additionally the tour guide took in on himself to gather all our cameras at each stop to get a group photo of us at each place on everyone's camera, plus a few special places he took additional photos for us - those photos turned out to be some some of our favorite photos from the entire 12 day crusie trip. The tour guide was fluent with English and a bountiful source of interesting information.

Our guide met us at the cruise ship. He was polite and spoke English very well. Good value for an individual tour guide and driver.

The three of us, dad and two adult children, enjoyed this tour very much, I beleive that most tourist go to this part of the world to see the remains of the ancient city of Ephesus but by taking this tour we were also able to see Miletus and Didymus. Out guide, Eda, did a wonderful job of explaining how the three ancient cities interacted with each other. This gave us a better understanding of the whole area. Her explanation of several different cultures including Greek, Roman and the Christian expereince in the area were enlighting. Eda knew her subject, she spoke and enunciated English well. Our driver was good and accomodating. We had eight hours ashore and were able to see all three cities to our complete satisfaction. We could hardly have beeb more pleased. J. A. Lamb

We loved this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The van was very comfy and clean. We decided we wanted to go to The House of Mary instead of Ephesus, since we'd already been there. They made the change for us and it worked out wonderfully.

This was a fantastic tour. I loved how it was a private tour. Juan was our tour guide and he did an amazing job, the tour was supposed to be a full day but because our cruise only had a couple of hours he did a fantastic job of getting to the point and giving us wonderful facts in half a day tour and still giving us the full day experience. Juan and the driver got us to Didyma before anyone else so we were loving being able to see a sight where no other tourist were. I really wished we had more time to explore Ephesus, what a stunning city and very fascinating but the time was not their faults but rather the cruise since they do not give you much time at ports. Juan was very sweet because I collect currency from Countries I been to so he gave me some Turkish lira. Like I mentioned, before Juan gave us the full experience even though we were short on time and got us back to our ship right on time. Awesome Tour, will not be disappointed and well worth the extra for a private tour.

Oh my gosh, we had an absolutely amazing day with our wonderful guide who really helped us out a great deal by taking us away from Ephesus in the morning and away from all the ship crowds! The trip to Didyma and Miletus were highlights of our whole Turkey experience as both places were vacant of crowds...the Temple to Apollo was very beautiful with no one else there except us! When we finally got to Ephesus, which was also wonderful, the crowds were all gone and we enjoyed a quiet and peaceful tour of the park. Reasonable cost expecially when this was a private guide. We definitely enjoyed the free lunch at the carpet sales facility...or Crafts Center. Didn't buy any rug, but left a tip for time and service. Great day...great guide and terrific opportunity.
