Get ready to discover the original Emerald City, the city of Seattle, Washington, from its inception in the 1890s. This entertaining and educational underground voyage travels beneath the streets to uncover three blocks of historic, old Pioneer Square. Explore not only the underground passageways that were built more than 120 years ago, but also the modern Pioneer Square that exists today.

Hear tales from the past, like the story of the stampede to the Yukon gold fields and Seattle's crucial role in what would become the Klondike Gold Rush. Find out about Skid Row, a dilapidated urban area that served as the main street in Pioneer Square. And get to know the history of a group of people called the Coast Salish, the ethnically and linguistically related Indigenous peoples that first settled here.

My husband, daughter and I took the tour which is approximately 1 hour long. Our guide, Dave, was very informative and very engaging. We were part of a relatively small group (no more than 25) so it was easy to see and hear Dave at all times. If you are in Seattle you should strongly consider taking this tour. The history of the underground is extremely fascinating. We highly recommend!

We were a party of 4 from California looking for things to do in Seattle.... Found the Beneath the Street tour online and thought it sounded interesting it was but boy was it SO MUCH MORE! Dave our tour guy was so knowledgeable with just the right amount of humor sprinkled in. He kept us moving through the city stopping here and there to duck us down hidden areas where he shared old photos and stories of days gone by.... He had an excellent knack of painting pictures in our heads of how Seattle was built out of the ashes! This was a highlight of our trip!!

Good history lesson

It was more of a history lesson on Seattle, than an underground tour. In that context, I thought it was very interesting and I enjoyed it. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

The history was good, but by the title you would think it was all under ground but half of it was above ground and outside.

Great tour guide

Great guide, they really know a lot about the area and the history. My only complaint was that the actual "under the streets" part was kind of light in that there were only 3 locations under ground. There may just not be any more available to see, but the tour synopsis made it sound like there would be more locations. The guide though, did a great job with the locations she had and she filled in the above ground parts with lots of interesting info that I'd have never known otherwise. Thanks

This was my second time touring the underground. My companion enjoyed her first time. I/we were amazed at the history given to us by our very entertaining tour guide. We attended the 12:30, Feb 23 tour and I would recommend this to any person, even the locals. Facinating. Thanks so much.

Funny and informative both myself and son were captivated and Mike the tour guide made the day. The way it was presented made trhe hour flyby and the short walks between the underground sites makes it sccessible for ssll ages.
