Muir Woods National Monument tour: Hotel pickup in San Francisco starts early for the drive north across the Golden Gate Bridge, meaning you’ll reach Muir Woods before many other tours arrive. On your way out of the city, see the Palace of Fine Arts and the Presidio.

Muir Woods National Monument is home to a pristine forest of California coastal redwoods, which are some of the planet’s tallest and oldest trees with heights that can reach 250 feet (76 meters). You have some time here to wander through the grove of giant sequoias and cross over mossy streams. Your guide will tell you about the local vegetation and wildlife along the nature trail. Then return to the tour vehicle for the drive further north into wine country.

Wine country tour: When you reach your first winery in Sonoma County’s Carneros region, you can explore the grounds, enjoy photo ops of the vineyard and sample a variety of wines in a welcoming atmosphere. For lunch, guests can choose one of two lunch options. The first is to venture out on their own and try one of the many cafés and restaurants located in the plaza. The second option is to upgrade their wine country experience to the next level with a private seated gourmet food and wine pairing experience at a local restaurant. They will enjoy delicious local food paired with a collection of California wines. After being greeted with Sonoma Valley cheeses and sparkling wine, guests may select a course such as minestrone Soup with navy beans and vegetables, pasta with either a beef and pork sauce or arugula-almond pesto sauce or grilled salmon with seasonal vegetables and balsamic reduction. Afterward, continue your tour to your second and third wineries in Sonoma County or Napa County for more tastings. Enjoy a leisurely stop at each winery, and you’ll have the chance to taste 3 to 5 wines of different varietals, from white to red to sparkling. Tasting fees are included, and you may purchase bottles not available in retail stores to take home. See below for a sample of wineries you may visit.

Your day trip ends with the drive back across the Golden Gate Bridge. Admire views of the vast Pacific and the rugged coastline before hotel drop-off.

Redwoods & Wine Country Escape with Gourmet Food & Wine Pairing upgrade: Discover Muir Woods National Monument, Sonoma & Napa Valley in 1 Day and enjoy an exclusive three-course gourmet meal and wine pairing. (Lunch for children not included in the rate and needs to get paid at the restaurant).

NOTE: Tastings are usually held at Kieu Hoang Winery, Muscardini Cellars and Mayo Family Winery, but locations are subject to change, depending on availability.

The tour guide was great & overall the experience was good. However, I was disappointed in the wines they were young and was not impressed by them.

A great day out

I was in San Fran for work and wanted to travel to some wineries without having to rent a car. This tour was absolutely perfect for a business traveler in town and wanting to have a fun day out! Our driver Dustin was very knowledgable about the region and the walk through Muir Woods and winery stops were all fun. No need to get the VIP lunch, there are many places in the Sonoma Square to grab a bite! Had a great time.

Muir Woods and wineries

Our guide Devin was excellent. The best. Very knowledgeable and friendly. We loved Muir Woods experience and also two of the wineries. The second one we visited was so and so. The third one was the best, good explanations and good wine. I enjoyed the day very much. Lots of options to lunch in Sonoma. We had lunch in a Mexican restaurant La Casa. Good food and service. Plenty of time for lunch and walk around.

Our tour guy was Dustin. He was very informative and personable. He was concerned about the safety of all that attended and just did an awesome job!

Very informative guide,...

Very informative guide, but the bus ride was very very warm with no Air Conditioner that really worked. Again, guide was very informative and good, but he almost talked to much and made the ride a bit unenjoyable.
icon Response from Host , Jun 2022
Thanks for your review. 100+ degree temperatures in Napa Valley can be challenging for any vehicle. At your suggestion, we are dialing up the AC in your bus. Take good care.

Best wine tour I've had so far
KARRENLOU_H
, Jun 2022
It was the best wine tour experience I've ever had. Our tour guide, Dustin, was the coolest and very knowledgeable about the rich history of Napa and Sonoma as well as the Muir Woods. If you're looking for a 4-in-1 experience - tours to 3 wineries, Muir Woods, Sonoma Town Square, and Golden Gate Bridge - this tour is the perfect fit for you. I 100% recommend it!😊

Thanks for your recommendation! Dustin "cool"? Well, I guess so! Let's try a different tour on your next trip!

Understand what you're signing up for. A tour for the masses, but not the enthusiasts.

Let me be clear as to what this tour really is. If you are a wine collector, someone who wants to learn more about the growth of certain grapes, the distilling process, the various barrels used, and taste a broad assortment of reds and whites, while having conversations about hints of flavors and debates over the various aromas solely in Napa Valley at vineyards where mass varieties of grapes are produced, this is NOT the tour for you. Similarly, if you're looking for a few hours in Muir Woods, the opportunity to really explore the trails and spend a little bit of time enjoying the gift shop, this is NOT the tour for you. This tour is great if you're someone who wants to go to one Napa vineyard, an outdoor bar and a Sonoma distillery (which was the most interesting and had the best wine and actually took some time to explain the wine making process) and grab a handful of free blends while sitting outside relaxing. If you're someone who wants a selfie with a tree, a cool pic by the Golden Gate bridge and a tour guide brimming with jokes - do it. If you treat the tour as a long day uber that can get you to and from places and you don't put too much stock into the quality - go on this tour. If you're new to wines and want to see a bit of California but don't really care where you are or how long you stay or what the quality is - do this. I think they need to be very clear that you're really only going into one vineyard in Napa (that isn't very good) and that vineyard has gone above and beyond to only serve cheap blends (which they admitted themselves) due to the bottling shortage. When we asked our guide where we could go for a true wine experience, he told us he didn't know and his job was to serve the masses. No research, no additional explanation. So if you're one of the masses that wants to see the state and have some pretty cheap, blended wines - try it out. If you're a wine enthusiast and someone who wants more than 30-45 minutes at Muir Woods, go elsewhere.

An Awesome Adventure

It was all so memorable! Couldn’t have spent our money better! Our driver and guide, Kimmie, was phenomenal! She was knowledgeable, funny, friendly, and went above and beyond to be helpful! You guys have a real gem in Kimmie!❤️❤️🍷🍷 The Muir Woods was spectacular! The wineries were relaxing, great view, and great tasting wines. The Ru Vango was by far the best….the host at this winery was great. The host at Mayo was really good too! I was amazed at how much we learned and saw! So much more than the redwoods and the wineries! Thank you Kimmie!

Ah...thanks for the kind words about Kimmy. She lover doing this tour as you could tell. Let's go again soon!

Woods & wine

Muir woods was nice but would need to spend more time. Wineries were both really enjoyable. Not enough time at each winery and should have some light snacks at each.
icon Response from Host , Jun 2022
Thanks for you review. We agree with you about Muir Woods but the park service put a time limit on visits there in 2018. The good thing is that more visitors get to see the Coast Sequoias but on a time limited schedule. We also offer a Muir Woods tour is you'd like to go back to see more of the park. Thanks!

Memorable and Enriching!
Valeria_M
, Jun 2022
What a great day! The vineyards were beautiful, the VIP lunch was delicious, the bus was comfortable, the wine was lovely, but above all, the tour guide was a treasure! We laughed a whole lot, we learned enough to appreciate everywhere we were and everything we were doing. By the end of the tour, the group was united and in great spirits. The timing between the pourings is enough so that we enjoyed every pour without getting drunk. We made it back to SF early enough to have dinner in the city and go dancing. It was a memorable and enriching time, I highly recommend it!

It's such a treat when you meet others on tour and develop friendships. Thanks for making that possible. Take care!

Kimmy is awesome....
Pratik_P
, Jun 2022
Kimmy is awesome. Efficient packed trip. We went to Muir Woods and spent good time there, then visited 3 wineries (2 in Sonoma, 1 in Napa), hand lunch in Sonoma Plaza and on the way back stoped at a view point for Golden Gate Bridge. Tip: Gourmet Lunch booking at Sonoma Plaza is not particularly special and might be worth avoiding. It takes 11-12 hours and not 10 hours as promised as pick and drop from and to all across the city takes a lot of time. Can avoid that by getting dropped at the first point and doing your own thing.
