Vatican tour

First off, there were way too many people in the museum and sistine chapel. It made it very difficult to navigate. The Vatican needs to limit the amount of people in there at the same time. God forbid if there was an emergency, there would have been a stampede. As for the tour, she had lots of good information. However, her thick accent made it difficult to understand. There also were too many in our group so getting photos and keeping up with her was impossible.

This tour offer is misleading. There is a low price offer that appears to match other identical offers but for a lower price. Then, upon arrival you are told that you have to pay an additional fee for entrance to the museum. However, they never explain to you that you have to enter the museum in order to get to any of the other parts of the tour. Otherwise, you would have a 3 hour tour of the museum which is really just the main entrance with very little to see. The tour guide check in girl got very upset with us for not understanding and then made it her goal to prove that they were right and we were wrong. They took us over to show the Viator website references that state that there is an extra fee to enter the museum. We saw these references but had no idea that the museum was just the main entrance. We felt that 3 hours and the agenda was plenty and it wasn't worth the extra price for the museum. It was our ignorance but we can't help but feel misled. This was a bait a switch offer. We were willing to pay whatever price was necessary but when it appears that there are two identical offers for different prices, we took the lower price. There were 11 of us. We paid the fee and then a nicer gentleman, probably a manager, explained that this is Viator, not them. Viator makes the offer. So, it is Viator that is misleading customers. The tour was very crowded and there were no options to revisit places you wanted to revisit, other then the Basilica. We couldn't go to the shops. We were rushed at times but then spent a lot of time on other artifacts, etc.where we would have preferred to have options on where to spend more time. Or, the option to go back. The tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable but had a thick Italian accent. Our tour was supposed to be in English but at times she was very hard to understand do to her accent. The headsets also didn't work so well. They would fade in and out often. Some of our tour ended up taking them off and just walking around with the tour. Needless to say that with the crowd, the inability to hear or understand the tour guide, and the bait and switch, our group was not happy with the tour at all.

Best thing about this tour is the skip the line part. Going in with a group saves a chunk of time. Other than that, the group is huge over 30 people and you basically feel like cattle the entire time jostling with other groups. You also have to pay separately for the entrance tickets, an additional 24 Euro per person, which wasn't clear from the description. If you really want to do the Vatican tour book a smaller group one or just wait in line/pay for the museums and then you get quick access to the basilica when you're done with the museums. It was basically 3 hours of waiting, getting pushed around and trying to stay with the group and then talking about a couple of things while we were waiting. Didn't really get to enjoy the museums felt rushed and once you leave you can't go back in. The Sistine chapel is worth it fyi you can't take pictures inside but at least we got some time to look around on our own there. Maybe I just dislike the whole tour format but I'd rather figure it out on my own then go through that again. Overall I wouldn't recommend it.
