St. Peter's Basilica, Piazza San Pietro, 00120 Città del Vaticano, Vatican City
For the morning portion of your tour, meet your guide and small group of fellow travelers near the Colosseum. Skip the long lines with your fast-access tickets and proceed directly inside to begin exploring the ancient world's epic sports arena. Listen as your guide describes the harrowing contests that took place there.

Head over to the Roman Forum, where you climb up a nearby overlook to get a peek inside instead of slogging through the crowds awaiting entrance. From your vantage point, you can see the Temple of the Vestal Virgins and the Senate House, and your guide helps you imagine how the forum functioned as the center of Rome's society two millennia ago.

Step inside the Pantheon, the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world, and hear how it was built. Then head for the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona, streets made famous in the film 'Roman Holiday,' with a gelato in hand.

Take a break for lunch on your own, then meet your guide again. Enjoy skipping the lines again and head inside for a curated tour of the Vatican's highlights, during which you see the Laocoön Group, the sculpture galleries, and the Raphael Rooms. End up in the Sistine Chapel, gazing upwards at Michelangelo's famous frescoes.

From there, choose between extending your stay in the chapel and the Vatican Museums, or skip the lines and enter St. Peter’s Basilica directly from the Sistine Chapel.

  • Please note, this tour is wheelchair accessible with some difficulties. We advise clients to contact Walks Customer Service Team to make further arrangements.
  • Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate guests with strollers on this tour.
  • Please ensure that all members of your party have a valid ID on them on the day of the visit. This is particularly important for guests who have qualified for child reduction.

Amazing!

My tour guide Paolo was AMAZING! He was knowledgeable, personable, and engaging. There is A LOT of walking but all of the sights and history distract you from it. Paolo was very conscientious of the group's needs and interests. I highly recommend this tour because of the smaller group size. I was only in Rome for a short time but I feel like I saw everything thanks to this tour. Paolo definitely deserves a raise!!

Hi GrandTour17385259352, Our Rome in a Day tour is definitely the perfect way for guests who are short on time to see the Eternal City. We are delighted that our guide Paolo looked after you so well, and that you found the entire experience very enjoyable. That is just what we want to hear from all of our guests! Warmest regards, The Walks Team

Great tour but no return ride provided

Flavia is very knowledgeable and has a very high level of energy (keeps you engaged). There is a lot of walking and a lot packed into one day (bring water, you can refill throughout the day). For us it may have been better to schedule the Vatican City portion of the tour on another day (too much to take in during one tour). Be aware that the tour ends at Vatican City and it is up to you to find your way back to your lodgings (they do not take you back to the original meeting place). I think that this should be more clearly stated under 'what is not covered'. Recommend using the Metro (1.5 E) to get back, it is easy to use. Taxis are available but can be a little pricey.

Hello buckeyetraveler56, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are delighted to learn that you had a fantastic time Flavia as we strive to select guides with extensive knowledge, and a passion for what they do and we are glad it shows! We generally do not offer a drop off service after our tours, and we are sorry this is not well communicated. We will take your feedback into account to ensure this clearly outlined in our description moving forward. Thank you once again for your feedback. We hope you will have the opportunity to tour with us again soon! All the best, The Walks Team

Dear Turu12lecter, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your time at St. Peter’s Basilica! While this is a fully guided tour, the guided portion does end in the Sistine Chapel, as noted in the “What to Expect” section. From there, guests have the option of how they want to end their day, by either staying in the Vatican and admiring the beauty of the museums for longer, or entering St. Peter’s with skip-the-line access. For those who do decide to skip-the-line for St. Peter’s Basilica, our guides give a brief intro of the basilica before escorting everyone inside. From there, the tour is officially over and everyone is free to walk around the site as they wish. Again, we are sorry that you were unable to fully enjoy your time in St. Peter’s Basilica. We know how tiring an all-day tour can be, which is why we like to give our guests the option of how they want to end their time at the Vatican. We hope that you were able to enjoy the rest of your tour and had an excellent time in Rome! All the best, The Walks Team

Tour was great. You need the "skip the line" tour. It is worth it!! I went during August, so it was hot, but just bring water and comfortable walking shoes.

Good Tour - Not Good on Super Hot Days Though

Informative tour for those who may only have one full day in Rome; but be prepared to walk all day! Extremely hot when we toured so lots of sweating and hydration is a must.

Great tour with Laura!

We were nervous about trekking around Rome independently on our first day in Europe so we booked this tour to take us around to the main attractions. The company was very organized, and we had a great day. The only thing I was not aware of was that we would be seeing the Pantheon as well - which was an added perk. Overall a great experience with this company and with Laura as our guide!
