Meet your guide and small group at the metro stop just opposite the Colosseum. Your tour group is limited to 15 people or fewer to ensure personalized attention and an intimate atmosphere. Begin your whirlwind tour of the most important sites of ancient Rome with express entry to the Colosseum, skipping the long entry lines.

Walk around the first and second tiers of this Rome landmark, learning about the basic facts as well as some more esoteric knowledge, such as the hand signals that emperors used to condemn combatants and the daily lives of the gladiators.

Head for the commercial and political heart of the empire: the Roman Forum. On the way, pass Temple of the Vestal Virgins, the final resting place of emperor Julius Caesar and the arch of Constantine.

Trek up to the top of Palatine Hill, where you pause to hear the legend of Romulus and Remus, the mythological twins who founded Rome. Through our guide's commentary, come to a better understanding of the importance of this once-great empire.

  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
  • The Colosseum is subject to occasional closures. Please provide us with detailed contact information in case we need to reschedule your tour
  • The Colosseum has changed its admission policy to ensure that only 3,000 people are allowed within the amphitheater at any given time, meaning much less crowding during busy periods. We expect that the instances of this will be limited but ask for your patience if you travel on a busy day and are affected by this unavoidable circumstance. In all, it should make for a much nicer experience for all (and longer general access lines!).

Blessed to have a great guide for my debut tour of The Colosseum! Gigi is very professional and he's almost an encyclopedia in Roman history!

Missing tour guide

We searched all over the area where the tour guide was supposed to meet us. As it became close to the meeting time I called the local number provide for the guide. They did not answer. I then called to reservation number to discuss my issue. They were quick to point out that if you cannot find your guide you will loose you tour money. In my opinion this could be an easy scam ... we make a reservation in another country outside the US, take your money and tour guide doesn't show. I have tried to get a credit refund but like the reservation agent stated ... if you can't locate the guide you lose your money. Never again will I use a service like this. My advise take the tours that are made on your cruise ship.

Hello seabrez461, Thank you for your feedback from your recent experience with us, we appreciate that you have taken the time to share it. I am so sorry to hear that you were unable to join your tour, as that is certainly not the experience that we intend for any of our guests. We always do our utmost to avoid exactly this situation, as we know how disappointing it is to miss a much anticipated tour. After booking with us, either directly or through a distributor, each of our guests will receive a confirmation email with clear directions to the meeting point and a request to be there 15 minutes prior to the tour start time. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to be able to refund guests who arrive late to the meeting point or who go to the wrong area, as we have already paid for that guest's entrance tickets and the cost of the guide etc. We do our best to accommodate our guests with a reschedule wherever possible though, as we very much value all of our guests and want to make sure that each one has a fantastic experience with us. If this wasn't possible in your case due to your itinerary or cruise schedule, I can understand how frustrating that must have felt! We do hope that you will be able to tour with us in the future, as we would love a second opportunity to impress you. Warmest regards, The Walks Team

Jaber, our guide, was very informative!

It was a great tour and our guide, Jaber was very informative and interesting!! He showed us maps of how it would have looked in the past and was truly interested in what he was doing. He also kept checking that we were all present an would wait for us and kept trying to keep us in the shade if possible as it was 30 degrees celcius.

Hello BoardingPass16664, Thank you for giving us your thoughts! I am delighted that Jaber was able to make your tour interesting and enjoyable despite the heat! Those maps and drawings of how it would have looked in the past really are incredible! All the best, The Walks Team

Donata from walks of Italy was wonderful

Donata provided a great tour of the Colliseum and surrounding Palatine and forum. She was friendly, funny and gave explanations and context to the ruins. The small group was the way to go... Just right for the crowded Colliseum.

Visiting a site as monumental and popular as the Colosseum doesn't have to be stressful! We're glad to organize small groups to give everyone a more intimate tour experience.

We had a great guide (Titus) who was very knowledgeable and excited to tour us around. The small groups were perfect so everyone could keep up. The earphones that were provided were also super helpful so that you could hear clearly without being directly beside your guide.

We toured early in the morning at 8:30 am so it wasn't too busy and we skipped all lines with zero wait times-even through security. We lucked out and ended up getting a private tour as the other party booked for the small group did not show up. Our guide was very professional and knowledgeable. He encouraged us to ask questions as much as we wanted. Vincenzo was his name. Great guide and memorable tour.

Greatness is what we strive for! We are happy to learn that Vincenzo helped make a wonderful tour for you. We're glad that we got to share it with you!

Maria Teresa is a very good guide. She explained well the story of the Colosseum that the participants were left without any questions. :) The tour was on time and organized.

We couldn't do what we do without our excellent guides! We are glad that you enjoyed your time with Maria Teresa and hope that the rest of your time in Rome was just as wonderful!
