Our tour guide was both knowledgeable and engaging. He was able to provide us great information about the church and its history but also the area as well. One of our particular highlights was the way that he unpacked what was going on in society at the time to help us understand why the builders of the church made certain architectural decisions and why certain philosophical/religious movements grew or decreased in importance. It felt like we were being shown a relatively unknown treasure of the city by a local who understood its importance.
