While most people don't associate Iceland with snorkeling, the cool Nordic country actually offers plenty of underwater marvels -- you'll just need a wetsuit. With this experience, a professional guide will take you to Silfra, a fissure between North America and Europe in Thingvellir National Park that marks where the two continental plates are slowly drifting apart. You and your group will get a chance to spend around 40 minutes in the water before heading back to shore.
  • See where the continental plates are drifting apart
  • Snorkel under the watchful eye of a PADI-certified guide
  • All equipment and wetsuits are provided
  • Group tour limited to six participants to ensure personal service

Awesome experience!
, Sep 2021
Adventure Vikings was awesome! We had Maria as our guide, and she was excellent! She was super friendly and did a great job!! We had the option of using a dry or a wet suit. I choose the wet suit, and it was COLD. Definitely the coldest I have ever been. If you are a smaller build or get cold easily, I would definitely recommend using the dry suit (almost everyone who had the wet suit was shaking/was blue and purple). You will enjoy your experience more if you are warmer. Having said that, I still had a great time, but I wouldn’t wear the wet suit again. It was absolutely gorgeous!! The water is so clear and the view of the lake is stunning.
Beautiful Silfra!

What a beautiful trip! Maria was our guide and she kept us entertained and smiling all day! One of the best guides that we have ever had for a tourist experience, we would have loved to hang out with her longer. We were comfortable in our wetsuits and the water didn't feel as cold as we expected. On a sunny day the views underwater were incredible. We are experienced divers and this was something unique to see (just snorkeling and diving down). Don't forget to take a sip of the water when you're in :)

Maria and Alberto were awesome guides. Friendly and entertaining, they helped coach me through the initial cold to make it really enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Very cool (and very cold)!

This is a pretty unique experience, and the views underwater are amazing... But I feel more could've been done to make it more comfortable. For example, we were asked to wait for a long time (for some participants who didn't come) outside in the cold and rainy weather, and only after a long while told that we could wait on the (unheated) bus. Since we were about to get really cold, it would have been easy to keep us warm at the start. Similarly, when we came back, the bus wasn't warm at all, and only got heated after a while. It would've also been nice to get more help getting the suits, gloves, etc. properly on.... As for the wet vs. drysuit, I wish I'd understood that unless you are a very strong diver, you will likely just float on the surface in the wetsuit (it's very buoyant, making it difficult to go under). I would've chosen the drysuit and avoided feeling incredibly cold afterwards. Also, if you don't have much body fat and tend to get cold anyway, the wetsuit may not be for you. Finally, this is not for this company/guide, but the park should consider building a changing facility for these tours, rather than each company bring their own changing buses. There is a small bathroom on that parking lot, that could've easily been expanded for this purpose. And for the pie-in-the-sky dream, a nice sauna/hotpot afterwards :)
Fun tour but no photos because they were not prepared.

It was absolutely beautiful and the guides were really nice. One big issue is that out guide forgot to check her SD card and it was full, so we got no photos. The whole reason I choose this tour over others was the included photo. I’m really disappointed.

Wetsuit Snorkeling
, Jul 2021
My friend and I did the wetsuit, and while it was cold, it was totally worth it! Our guide / leader Rob was great and made us all feel really comfortable. The pictures were awesome, and the hot chocolate afterward was a nice way to warm up. FYI there’s no changing room (though there is a bathroom with a sign on it saying that it’s not a changing room), and while they provide a big, warm parka, they don’t provide towels (which was in the description, but it’s worth noting).
Well worth the experience

Experience of a lifetime

The guides Maria and Luis were very helpful and helped us with one of the cooler experiences of my life! The water is cold but the wetsuits made it tolerable and I would highly recommend the experience to the bluest natural blue I ever have.
