Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Depart your central Reykjavik hotel or Reykjavik cruise port by air-conditioned coach and venture into Iceland’s starkly beautiful interior of rugged peaks, pastures and volcanic plains.

Take in panoramic views of the plant that harnesses the area’s natural propensity for generating power, and hear how it produces renewable energy for more than half of Reykjavik's population.

Continue from here along the famous Golden Circle, the sightseeing route that showcases three of Iceland’s most spectacular natural wonders.

Stop by at Thingvellir National Park, a region of untouched beauty steeped in ancient history. Learn how it’s home to the original, outdoor site of Iceland’s first parliamentary assembly, the Althingi, that began in 930, and see the extraordinary Thingvellir rift, where the tectonic plates of America and Eurasia face each other over a narrow valley.

Snap photos as your guide explains how the plates are gradually pulling apart, and then continue to the Gullfoss waterfall. Marvel at the double-tiered falls and, with luck, catch sight of one of the famous rainbows that forms in the mists.

Next, visit the incredible geothermal region of Geysir, known for its hot springs and geysers. Take in the bubbling pools and steam vents, and see Strokkur, a waterspout that shoots to around 98 feet (30 meters) in the air.

Your tour then ends back at the original start point in Reykjavik.

Geysir
The Great Geysir, the first of its name, resides in Haukadalur in the Geysir Geothermal Area. The entire area is bubbling with geothermal activity from steam vents to boiling mud pits and the real stars of the geothermal show, the geysers. All other geysers, the world over, are named for Geysir.

Stop At:
Gullfoss
The most popular waterfall in Iceland is, without a doubt, Gullfoss (the golden falls). And that is saying quite a lot in a country that is home to thousands of waterfalls. Gullfoss is also considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in Iceland and it is certainly one of the largest. Hearing the roar of the Hvita River as it plunges 32 meters over two tiers into the gorge below is exhilarating. On sunny days, rainbows are abundant in the mist rising from the falls and there are several paths available around the waterfall including one leading down to its bottom so come equipped with your raincoat and have your camera at the ready.

Iceland in one day - excellent trip

The trip was excellent if you want to learn many things about iceland in general and to see the most popular sights. The guide told many stories and was funny too. He had many tips for visiting the locations on this tour and to get Discount and free restrooms and so on. The only problem of the trip is that you dont have so much time at the stops and that you are on your own, once you have left the bus. But for me nevertheless 5 stars.

Enjoyable, but not really accessible.

We thoroughly enjoyed our excursion. Driver Marek, was very helpful with my husband's wheelchair, and our guide Darren was very knowledgeable. The reason I have not rated this 5 stars is the fact that the website said this was an accessible excursion, so we expected an accessible bus, which it wasn't. My husband had to crawl up the steps of at every stop. We made the most of it though, and had a good day.

Perfect Iceland Experience

Unreal experience I’d recommend to anyone visiting Iceland. Simon was a model tour guide who was as knowledgeable as he was entertaining. Even in the drives between stops he kept us entertained. Hans was an excellent driver as well and got us everywhere safely and in no time. 10/10 experience!
