Saona Island Snorkeling + Catamaran Tour

This should have/could have been an amazing adventure, ended up being a comedy of errors. Upon arriving at our port, we found that we were actually at a beach that was more junkyard than beach. There was an unforgettable scene of a hog, literally, hogtied awaiting for its demise. As we boarded the ferry to the catamaran, I witnessed the hog being lifted in the back of a truck and he screamed in objection. After reaching the catamaran, we found few seats. The music was a speaker connected to a cell phone that frequently had a poor connection. The restroom was a toilet in what was apparently a storage area. Not really sure how anyone used it. The open bar: Soda, water, rum in any combination your choice. During our journey, there was a minor stall where it was determined that the battery needed to be changed; in the middle of the ocean! I can only assume this has happened before, simply because there was a spare battery literally on deck. The Sand bar was beautiful! The photographer captured several fantastic moments and was quite skilled in his positioning and angles. The title reads snorkeling. There was no snorkeling equipment provided or mentioned or offered at any point. Saona island was quite the disappointment. Finally arriving 4 hours after leaving my resort, I found aggressive birds, stray dogs, flies, and a beautiful beach. The buffet was decent. The only drinks available were water, soda, and rum. No beer. The actual time on Saona island was maybe an hour then the long trek back home. My cruise ended with an “over-served” passenger jumping off the catamaran as we pulled in to the bay. Book with care.

we booking saona island 16 jan my friend birthday i call company 1 day before we go. They sad 7.20 morning pick we up.16. 16 morning just in case call them they sad come in 7.40 nobody after 1 guy came in he sad our tour take bus after 5 min he sad not his company we booked.He call number what i have it viator guys sad bus so far on way he can give me properly explanation he offer 17 ok finaly we got it many phone call after saona 17 weather wasnt good like 16 our tour guide no profesional!!we meet other couple they have some problem they got some tour like for as they paid extra bottle wine visit small village plus saona island they miss because put them wrong group.They company dont know what they doing we very dissapointed i never booked online anymore!!! last think couple also booked viator online thats is joke 2 big mistake some company

1. nous avons pris rdv au départ du bateau, sans réduction de prix, alors que la sortie incluait un A/R au départ de Punta Cana en bus. 2. nous avions pris 2 options langouste à 28€ chacun (on les trouve 2 fois moins cher ailleurs), pour avoir finalement dans l'assiette 2 petites langoustines sèches, certainement cuites de la veille, contrairement aux autres touristes de Punta Cana. Est ce que c'est notre réservation Viator qui fait cette différence..? 3. les guides évoquent la présence de grosses étoiles de mer rouges: c'est vrai, mais on nous les montre de loin, à partir du bateau qui trace sa route!!! 4. l'ile est certainement superbe, mais on nous cantonne tous sur une partie de la plage. Donc, grosse déception car la prestation n'est pas à la hauteur, et limite arnaque financière...

Lo mejor del viaje solo por bañarte en el Caribe y ver esas playas de arena blanca con sus palmeras salvajes invadiéndolas. El snorkel muy muy corto de tiempo. Una pena.

La guia "Mamalina", muy simpatica pero muy "viva", hace el recorrido a su manera y no como Viator lo ofrece. No vimos las rocas de coral ni los manglares y para colmo nos puso hacer el snorkel un minuto despues de salir del muelle, no vimos por supuesto ningun pez, solo pececitos insignificantes. Agua dió solo si le pides, parece que se guarda todo para ella. Quedé decepcionado

Guide très sympa, voyage en catamaran et speed boat parfait. L'île et ses eaux turquoises sont magnifiques. Snorkeling: pas vraiment l'endroit pour faire ça, rien a voir.
