I think they forgot me.

I booked this tour a month or so in advance, and received an email in the week preceding asking for the location of my hotel for pickup. I replied via their provided WhatsApp contact number and was told that someone would pick me up at 2pm. The day of the tour, I was in the reception area of the hostel at ten to two. At 2:15 no one had shown, so I texted through WhatsApp to let them know I was still waiting and to verify that the tour was still running as scheduled. I received no response. At 2:40 I texted again to ask whether, if the tour was canceled, my money would be refunded. Again, no answer. About ten minutes later, though, a woman arrived and asked for me, then led me out to the street where she hailed a taxi and ushered me in. This was advertised as a bus-transport tour with an English-speaking guide. I asked her what had happened in my admittedly amateur Spanish. She fired off a rapid response, but gave up trying after a couple of tries and requests to go slower. This surprised me, as people are usually pretty patient and try to help me understand. The taxi was sketchy, and I was nervous at finding myself heading off with two strangers and no explanation of what was going on. When we got to Sillustani, the woman started walking up to the ruin without saying anything to me, and soon got on her phone, which she stayed on for most of the rest of the walk. This was my first day at altitude so I was moving slowly, but she only looked back once or twice, and soon had left me at least a city block behind. At the top, she delivered me to what I assume was the guide I was meant to have, and he was very friendly and informative about the site and its history. Now matched with a group, I became part of the tour, but no one ever gave me any explanation for what happened, let alone an apology for the delay or inconvenience. The tour and the site were great, but it felt pretty uncomfortable to be ignorant and ignored for the whole first half of the experience. It also seems like good customer service to text back if there's a delay or change of plans. I wish I could give a higher rating because I really enjoyed the attraction. I might just advise choosing a different tour company or booking through your hotel instead.
