Your full-day tour of Oregon’s northern coast starts with morning hotel pickup in downtown Portland. Be sure to grab your coffee and breakfast for the ride to Neahkahnie Point, an amazing spot to look for whales and where you can see miles of Oregon's coastline. Disembark in Manzanita where you can spend time on the beach or explore the quaint boutiques in their downtown.

Next, head to Short Sand Beach where you embark on a short walk through old-growth forest before arriving at a beautifully secluded sandy beach.

Then head into Cannon Beach for some antiquing and lunch (own expense) before continuing to Haystack Rock. Walk out to Haystack’s base (if the tide is out), explore tide pools and glimpse scurrying sea creatures.

Then enjoy some free time to walk along the beach, warm up with locally-roasted coffee, and peruse the town’s eclectic shops and art galleries. Your return trip stops at Camp 18, a historical logging museum that provides a window into Oregon’s timber industry. Arrive back at your Portland hotel in the evening.
Stop At:
Camp 18 Museum
Those who want to learn more about logging history in the northwest, or who simply are curious about vintage logging machinery, will find plenty of material at Camp 18. Outdoor displays include multiple steam donkeys such as a Dolbeer single spool, a very early first-generation model, to a high-tech late-model Willamette compound geared yarder that was the height of technology for its day. Other displays on site include a large bandsaw from a sawmill, a self-propelled Ohio steam crane, Caterpillar-style tracked vehicles that worked in the woods, a railroad skeleton log car and other heavy equipment plus a wide variety of large and small hardware. We will make a quick stop here on our way to the spectacular Oregon Coast so that you can explore the historic equipment, use the restroom, and buy some coffee if you want.

A great day on the coast.
, Sep 2021
This tour was very well organized - we visited several beaches, and had plenty of time in the middle of the day to walk along Cannon beach. Highly recommended.

Although it was a rainy day at the Coast, we made the most of it. Our tour guide, Cher, was very personable. The weather changed every 15 minutes based on where you were at on the we moved based on the weather. Some really spectacular views and great photos were taken. A nice lunch was had at the Wayfarer, which has an amazing view of Haystack Rock. The goal was Haystack Rock that day and the sun came out, although it was quite windy, and we were able to walk quite close on the beach to take great photos. In the end it was all spectacular and a great day on the Coast.

We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your day! We do offer private options on our tours and if you book one of those we can adjust the stops of the tour to fit your wants, even while the tour is happening.
Beautiful coastal tour
, Sep 2021
John was nice and knowledgeable. The first two beaches were the best. Would have loved 2-3hrs for lunch so could have shopped the cute boutiques and not rushed lunch and then just cut out the last beach. Felt very rushed. Drive has alot of elevation change and curves.

Thank you for the kind words about John. He is certainly a wonderful Tour Guide. We understand wanting more time in Cannon Beach. In the future you can book our tours as private tours, and then we can adjust the itinerary as you want even during the tour.
We had an amazing time!...

We had an amazing time! Our guide John Moran was friendly and very knowledgeable, interesting facts about the state itself but also provided environmental facts - which we appreciated! We travelled with children and they enjoyed it as much as we did!

Rich and Margo at Cannon Beach
, Aug 2021
All of it - fantastic experience. Our tour guide, Gunnar, was outstanding - nice, polite, and most of all very informative and helpful to ensure we got the best experience possible. Took us on several hikes along the beach and in the woods and just provided a fantastic experience. We took the Oregon Coast Day Trip and would highly recommend both the tour and Gunnar - Gunnar even stopped on the way to the coast at a local highway produce stand for some excellent fruit for us to enjoy on the way! Excellent tour and we would do it again next time we are in beautiful Oregon!
John Rocks!

Our tour guide John was personable, funny, and very knowledgeable! He made 3 Colorodans feel totally welcome. He picked us up right from our hotel and stayed on schedule the whole day. Book this tour! We had a blast!
Great Scenery but No Covid Protocols
, Aug 2021
The scenery along the drive was beautiful and the stops along the beaches were highlights of the tour. Our guide Norman, however, was so laid back as to be more of a driver than a tour leader. There was minimal interaction between him and the tour participants. No overview or context about where we were going and what we were going to see. I also did not appreciate the lack of COVID protocols. He told us at the onset of the trip that Oregon waived all protocols as of June 1st which is not true. He did take our temperature and most of the participants chose to wear masks while on the van although our “ driver” did not. Viator should not claim to be following COVID protocols when they are not. This was the disappointing part of the trip.
icon Response from Host , Sep 2021
Hello, Thank you for letting us know about this. Our company takes COVID safety extremely seriously and we have a full set of safety protocols that our drivers have been required to follow since March 2020 that are not limited to but do include: temperature checks for everyone, wiping high touch areas of the van with sanitizer between stops, offering hand sanitizer to guests, and everyone on the tour is required to wear a mask for the duration of the tour including the driver. Thank you for letting us know that Norm was not following those protocols. I will be speaking with him today and make sure that he is very clear that following safety protocols is absolutely not an option and that if he will not follow them he will not be guiding for our company.
Cannon Beach Experience
, Jul 2021
The view is beautiful but there was lots of driving with little entertainment. The few stops included for sightseeing were very short lived. The driver was kind however mostly kept quite during the commute, there was no information or history shared along the way. Overall it was a lovely scenic experience however for a tour that you pay for, I feel like the tour guides should provide us with more time to explore each stop, as well as being knowledgable on the locations they take us.
icon Response from Host , Sep 2021
Hello, Thank you for the feedback. Unless you book a private tour, there is a limited amount of time we can spend at each location in order to stop everywhere listed on the itinerary. I will be speaking with the guide from your trip and give them your feedback. Thank You
