Tatsey Treats!

What a great experience!!! Seeing how all of these local delicacies are made was fantastic.
Definitely recommend.
It is a long tour, 08459-1430 so plan accordingly.
Great Prosciutto tour

Prosciutto and parmigiano Reggiano your. Very hospitable people at the Prosciutto tour. Have us taste generous amount of ham. The cheese tour not too much. Just a penny, meager taste of the cheese
Response from Host , Jul 2021
Hi Mary, thank ou so much for your super precious review! Actually, the cheese tastings are always served in such a quantity to let you taste the difference between the 3 ageings of Parmigiano-Reggiano. In fact, the tastings of the SHARED food tour are not as abundant as the ones of the PRIVATE tour, which has also more time for the tastings included. We would be so happy to have you back to Parma soon and try the full day private tour also available on VIATOR :-) Arrivederci !
Great way to sample the foods of the region

Pro's: you get to experience, parma ham, parma cheese and balsemic vinegar. At each place, people who work there conduct the tour (typically family members) and they know their stuff. There was just the right amount of time at each location. The locations of the balsemic vinegar and parma ham were beautiful.
Con's: I wouldn't really call the lunch a lunch or even a light lunch. It consists of the parma ham sample, some more bites of parma cheese, and some samples of cakes. But you do get a glass of wine and if you'd like more ham you can have some. And based on the timing of the return to Parma, it was hard to find a place to have a proper lunch.
The cheese tour is disappointing

The tour group size is good, we have 6 people. The driver doesn’t explain anything along the way and doesn’t speak English. There is no tour guide attached too, explanations are done at each venue by the owners.
There is no bottled water given (although stated in the description). Lunch is at the Parma ham venue and lunch is only a plate of ham, that’s all. That looks more like tasting instead of lunch.
The cheese tour is the most disappointing, the cheese maker doesn’t look like they do it everyday. Things keep falling and they threw the stirring sticks and fell to the floor. A lot of confusion among themselves. Doesn’t seem professional at all. Doesn’t look like they respect the tools they use to make the cheese. They don’t explain everything about cheese making and doesn’t make it interesting at all.
We have been on many tours in Italy, this is the worst
Response from Host , Jun 2019
Dear Yu Kun A, thank you for your time in writing us this review. We are sorry that we didn't match your expectations.. But it is very strange that other participants of the same tour on the same day wrote an opposite review that I copy here to let the readers understand better.. maybe they were too enthusiastic and you were too negative.. the reality is probably in the middle.. Here you go:
My wife and I went on this day tour (9am-3pm) with 4 others in a small group, driven by a terrific lady who also imparted valuable info all along the way. The Parmigiano Regiano factory was impressive, the factory guide was enthusiastic, informative and provided a memorable tour that was followed by cheese tasting and a glass of wine. Next we were driven to a family owned Balsamic vinegar factory that was more than impressive - the delicate and romantic nature of high class BV production, followed by tasting. Then we were driven to a Parma Ham facility that we dared to go to although we are vegetarians. The factory guide was very sympathetic to our vegetarian trait but it was worth the visit. This was followed by an excellent lunch (vegetarian, for us) with wine - all included in the tour price.
The Parma Tourism people who booked the tour could not have been more friendly and helpful with info and bookings. Overall a 5 star day tour, well worth the money and time - we shall remember this for a life time. Dr S Chandrashekar
