Viator - Mis-selling of Tickets - Do NOT believe the offer of Skip the Queue
Andrew G
, Aug 2019
Palace of Versaille tour was a 'must see' and to be the 'highlight of our holiday'. Friends advised MUST get 'Skip the Queue Tour Tickets' to avoid the normal 3 hour queuing to get in. We bought tickets from Viator 'Guaranteed to skip the long lines'. But, on arrival our Viator tour guide showed us to the long queue and then disappeared without trace. I tried calling Viator telephone numbers whilst in the long queue to try and correct what I thought was a mistake, but could not get through to talk to anyone. Eventually managed to get to talk to ParisCityVision and they said Viator was at fault. After queuing for 2 hours and making little progress in the queue we returned on the coach to Paris and went to the ParisCityVision office. We were told Viator has mis-sold tickets to us. ParisCityVision only have normal tickets and tourists always have to queue. Not only was this and expensive trip as 59 Euros for a 27 Euro ticket and a waste of a day out of a 3 day holiday but the highlight of the trip was not possible to see. Disgusted by the entire experience! Appauling service and mis-representation of what should have been a winderful day.

The contacts who were with us on the bus did not make it clear to us how we were to use the guaranteed to skip the line priority pass and we ended up spending well over an hour in the long line and not skipping anything! Very disappointing after paying good money and trying to arrange our excursions the best we could ahead of time. After specifically asking about how to implement these passes when we registered and picked up our audio guides and tickets, we were reassured that everything would be made clear by the guides on the bus upon arrival at the castle. When we arrived, we were directed from the bus to head to a certain entrance but that was all and then the officials at Versailles instructed us to join the line! The long line! Not nice since we paid for NO line!

It was a great experience with the travel agent. With the map and audio was very easy to use and informative. we had enough time exploring the palace as well the garden in the whole day. The ride was comfortable too, especially on the way back when we were tired after the full day walk.

Tuve que hacer la misma cola de todo el mundo. Y fueron 75 minutos de cola. Mucho ¿no?
