Monet's House a highlight, Versailles Palace overcrowded disappointment
Mathew S
, Oct 2019
Monet's home, garden and the village were charming, beautiful and a wonderful visit, where as Versaille Palace was a significant disappointment due to overcrowding, poorly managed and average experience. Far too many people and tour groups allowed to make their way through with little management & structure. With so many rooms and so many people why are so few only available to view. Gardens however are worth visiting.

Mlle. Georgia Darell is a fantastic tour guide. She is a very accomplished art historian with a strong emphasis on Claude Monet and Impressionism generally. She is very professional, and conducts herself and her discourse in a fluid and enthralling way. She is very pleasant and entertaining, as well as warm, engaging and informative. She also related several interesting anecdotes about Monet's personal life, preferences and eccentricities. She is very attentive to the needs and questions of tour participants, and excels at at encouraging and engaging with tourists. This tour, solely because of Mlle. Darell, was absolutely the best one of all our Paris tours!! Mlle. Darell is a great representative of your company! Of particular note for me, Mlle. Darell possesses a fantastic memory and recalls everyone's names and is very personal in her interactions with tourists. She is definitely a great asset to your organization! We decided Giverny and Versailles on the same day was too much. Versailles is so huge that we were not able to see enough oft the gardens. There were also too many visitors inside the palace which made navigating very uncomfortable, and also did not allow us enough time to appreciate the palace and its contents. Sincerely, John Tincoff

5 Stars for Giverny - Flat tire on bus - Zero Stars for Versailles.

Isabella was a great guide and Monet’s house and gardens were a delight. We ate lunch at a local restaurant. On our way to Versailles, the bus blew a tire. We sat for an hour waiting for a replacement bus. We were too late for our Versailles entrance. Viator refunded us the Versailles portion of our tour the next morning.. Both Isabella and Viator get 5 stars. The bus does not.

It was absolutely tranquil. If you are even a little Monet fan or if you are into gardens, this is a must see. Versailles was also a must see. I highly suggest wearing comfortable walking shoes because you will be doing a lot of it...and you'll want to do a lot of it.

We were disappointment because bus was changed after first half of trip. But main thing is: we booked excursion with show in Versalles, paid extra money but show was not provided. However Jiverni was unforgettable!

Il fait faire ce tour avec Anatol! If you have a day to get out of Paris do this tour! Sure you can do Versailles by train on your own but you dont want to miss Givenny and Monets gardens! Our guide was Anatol and you must ask for him! You will learn more French history than you can imagine and he can answer the questions the majority of your guides cant. He is also increadibly entertaining which helps any history lesson. You will appreciate the fresh air of the county and the beauty of Normandy and see a genuine French village. Bonnne journée!

Monet'd House deserves 5 Stars

Monet's House and our guide, Georgia were excellent. Guide at Versailles always went to the center of a room so it was hard to take pictures and left us no time to see the gardens. The promised light show did not happen as we had to be back on the bus before dark. Very disappointed in that.

So much potential...

We were very disappointed in our day trip to Giverny and Versailles. The morning started off good. Our tour guide on the bus to Giverny, Shannon, was very pleasant and informative. When we arrived in Giverny, we knew we'd be on our own. But a little more direction would have been very helpful. We felt we wasted a lot of our limited time trying to figure our where things were and where we needed to go. A simple map would have been very helpful.. Everything went down hill when we arrived at Versailles. Our group was split into two smaller groups. From the start our guide, Natalia, did not seem to be very competent and was not very good at navigating the crowds. In fact we stood outside in the hot sun for over 45 minutes waiting to get in because she seemed unsure how to handle the bottle neck. Please don't advertise this tour as
