Beautiful museum and we really enjoyed it. Our favorite part was the space museum and planetarium. So fun

Outdated, stale, even incorrect information. If you're looking for an engaging experience, look elsewhere.

Immediately upon entering the museum exhibits, both my friend and I were shocked at how out-dated and non-engaging the entire museum felt, not to mention even finding some typos in the description of plant cells. It's really a shame that such a big museum in the heart of Manhattan - surrounded by world class institutions on both sides, appears to be so neglected. This should be a towering achievement of scientific communication to the greater public, both those with degrees in the sciences, and those without. The information provided in the exhibits was elementary and often unnecessarily simplistic. I know this is a museum of natural history, but that doesn't mean the museum itself needs to feel historical. There was no engagement, no incorporation of technology to make these exhibits anything more than static, faded shells of what could be the inspiration for a child to want to pursue a career in science, or at least to appreciate the natural world. I hope this review makes its way to decision makers and funders who can rectify this cultural stain.

Don't buy off Viator

The museum is fantastic, but buying the tickets through Viator is not recommended at all. You still need to wait in line to redeem them which makes it pointless to buy online ahead of time. Just buy the tickets off the electronic booths inside the museum lobby.

Still need to wait in line to exchange for tickets

Read the fine points. You still need to stand and wait in line to exchange for the actual admission tickets. It’s the same line for purchasing tickets anyway. It doesn’t save you any time. So totally not worth the trouble with the online transaction.

You still need to stand in line to get the actual admission tickets

You still need to stand in the ticket line with these online tickets. The line is crazy! That was not made clear on Viator. Shame on you viator. Shows can sell out. The admission is a suggested donation so you are better off just standing in line. Or buy directly from the museum app.

A FULL day in the museum

The museum is very huge and I'm sure we missed portions of it but our ticket covered everything it stated and we spent the entire day at the museum. I highly recommend the T-Rex exhibit and the animal and cultural exhibits. Only downsides were the butterfly garden was way overcrowded and the food selection was limited.

Another line to stand in

Bought tickets in advance to avoid standing in line, only to have to stand on line to 'validate' the tickets. No way to use kiosk.
