Highly recommend this tour over others in the area. Rich history and accurate portrayal. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave a true sense of what living was like and how it came about. Transportation was comfortable and pleasant - our driver had fun tidbits of info along the way.

Great tour, so much history learned from the guide at Whitney. I have visited Laura and Oak Alley, this tour was a bit different and presented a lot more in depth history from the perspective of the slaves. Tour was done with Crescent City Tours, the driver Kevin was very knowledgeable about NOLA and also gave us an unexpected stop for lunch, we had great Gumbo there!

The best plantation tour I've been to in New Orleans. Our tour guide Ali was very informative on the history of Whitney Plantation. He told us information you could've only learned by visiting. I'm so happy I learned a lot of pieces to the history of my ancestors, it's very important to know about the history of where you come from and I definitely feel closer to having a better understanding from what I now know. Thank you! Ali appreciate all you knowledgeable info.

Whitney Plantation and Crescent City tours

I purchased tickets to Whitney Plantation for my mom and I. We decided to use a transportation service. We learned so much on our tour, had access to fantastic literature in the gift shop and got to see a very realistic view of slavery that was not sugar coated which was exactly what we were looking for. The tour guide in the plantation was very knowledgeable about the history of slavery and slavery in Louisiana. She answered all of our questions and you could tell that she truly cared about the topic. Our driver from Crescent City tours also provided us with information about New Orleans, bayous and the surrounding plantations. We learned so much from everyone. So thankful to Crescent City tours and the Whitney Plantation.

I went with a group of 6 people. We thought the tour guide at the plantation was excellent. I thoroughly recommend visiting the Whitney plantation. The transportation offered was convenient in that they picked you up at your hotel; however, it seemed like a lot of money for the convenience. If I had to do it over again, I would have looked for cheaper ways to get out there.

This tour is educational and very meaningful, not entertainment. It gives voice to the lives and experiences of enslaved people who came from Africa. All tour guides have masters' degrees and are knowledgeable and straight forward dignified in their presentations. . Great book store, too.

Crescent City Tours, which organized this tour, did a great job on travel to and from the Whitney Plantation in Wallace, La. The ride included lots of local information about the area and quite a few funny stories from owner Brian. The tour price includes the admission to the plantation ($23 per adult) and a tour given by someone who works at the plantation. The 90 minute plantation tour is mostly outside in the sun, so consider that when thinking about what you wear and whether you bring those easily affected by the heat. That being said, if you want to see a plantation, chose this one for the interesting perspective. Our plantation tour guide had a masters in Black Studies and was super knowledgeable about the conditions and hardships the slaves on the plantation faced. This tour company's transport is in small groups/vans, although at the plantation you may be joined by others from other tours, or people who decide to drive the hour from New Orleans to visit the plantation. We made terrific time on the way out to the plantation, so Brian (the owner of the company) was able to drive us past the other plantations in the area for photos (including Laura, Oak Alley and St. Joseph's). Depending on the traffic you encounter, I'm not sure you'll get to see all that, so it was definitely a special treat for us. If you'd like to see more than just the Whitney plantation, I think you can book tours with this company where you can definitely see multiple plantations in one day!
