Laura plantation tour very informative

The guide pam in the laura plantation was extremely knowledgeable and a wonderful, interesting guide. We learnt so much on this plantation. Oak valley, although beautiful and interesting to see, did not have the same quality of guides and we found we received less information here.

The tour guide at Laura Plantation was outstanding. We walked away hearing information about this time in history that we were not aware of. I would think this is a must see for anyone interested in our history as a country. Our guide really painted the picture for what life was like living on this plantation.

Both tours were great and informative of the time period and what life was like on a plantation. Laura- We enjoyed the history and family story far better than Oak Alley. Our Tour Guide was Al (I believe?) and he was LEGIT! Sounded and looked Creole as they come. He took us into the family history of the plantation which was far more interesting than I could imagine. He was informative and knowledgeable as well as invested in what he was explaining to us. Able to picture what life was like for both Owner and Slave. Beautiful house and the gift shop was filled with goodies and trinkets to buy all reasonably priced. Oak Alley- Tour was more self-directed. Tour of the Main House was neat to see. The view from the balcony overlooking the alley of oak trees is memorizing. They serve mint julips by the main house if you like Gin... Had a big gift shoppe- was not able to go in; not enough time from walking and looking at the other exhibits.

The bus driver was a sweetheart named emeeka and she kept us very entertained the whole ride over. At the plantations your drover leaves you and the plantation is responsible for the tour. Both tours were very interesting and done by great guides. A must see if your in New Orleans

The history at Laura was EXTRAORDINARY! Our guide was highly informed and shared in a manner we could all keep up with! Oak Alley was beautiful but the lack of original furnishings and history was lackluster.

Make certain you clarify what your pick up time is with Cajun ahead of time. We were waiting out the front of our hotel for 30 minutes at what we thought was the prescribed time, according to the booking information. I phoned Cajun to check whether they were stuck in traffic... apparently we were the first pick up and the bus came and went 30 minutes prior to the prescribed time. This was the only day we had to do the tour - lucky we booked for the morning. The company were agreeable to pop us on the afternoon tour that day, however we viewed Oak Alley and Whitney instead. That being said the Whitney plantation was fantastic. We learned so much!
