Questions make a better tour! I could tell you what I think you SHOULD be interested in, but when our guests ask questions, the tour goes off into an unexpected and delightful directions, connections are made, and the whole experience becomes more meaningful and FUN! Josh is absolutely the master of the spontaneously tailored tour and I am so happy that you were able to walk with him through the lovely Garden District. Load up your questions for your next trip! A historic jaunt through the Garden District

My wife and I had an incredible time touring the Garden District with our excellent guide, Josh. The tour was an excellent opportunity to learn about the exquisitely rich history of the city of New Orleans and Josh provided in depth historical accounts detailing the founding of New Orleans and the subsequent development and growth of the Garden District. Josh was also able to talk extensively about the architecture of various homes on the tour and even managed to show us a few homes we had heard about and had specifically requested to see. As a bonus, we also got to see a nearby cemetery and learned so much about local burial traditions. Josh was courteous, knowledgeable (so many visual aids!) and made us feel safe during the pandemic. If you're a history buff or interested in the architecture of the beautiful homes in the Garden District you will get more than your money's worth with this tour! We can't wait to go back and do it again.

Yes! You want to do it again! There is almost no higher compliment in tourism. Thank you for this detailed and eloquent review. Josh is so incredibly good at what he does because he has a deep and detailed knowledge of the area, but also a personable manner and charming way of telling the stories of New Orleans. We are looking forward to hosting you again, and if the pandemic is still on, we will be taking all safety precautions. If the world returns to normal, you will see our faces! Libby

Personal, Informative, Lovely People

Our tour guide was James. He was absolutely wonderful! It was a small group, so we had plenty of chances to ask questions. He knew so much of the history as well as had personal stories and insight into architecture, current residents, and uses of the different houses. At least that I could see, the tour company isn’t on this page. Lucky Bean Tours. I’m not sure if there was a reason it wasn’t included on this page, but if you’re planning to take tours of other parts of the city, look them up! I had wished I knew about them before I booked my French Quarter tour with a different company. It was a lot less personal and not as informative.

Wow, we get the best guests! This is such an excellent review. We appreciate that you are recommending Lucky Bean Tours to other travelers, and of course we are so happy that you enjoyed your Garden District tour with James. It is a remarkably lovely neighborhood, and James is indeed an excellent guide of it. We are committed to keeping our groups small for exactly the reason you noted - we believe in customizing every tour to the interests of our guests so everyone is engaged, interested, learning, and having fun. Please come again! Libby

Libby was an amazing guide! She kept the tour interesting with her narratives and made sure we stayed cool in shaded areas as the tour carried along. Walking tours are a great way to see New Orleans and learn its history and culture.

Shady spot to shady spot - that's how we roll in the summer in Louisiana! Thank you so much for taking the time to review our Garden District tour. You are correct - you can't beat a walking tour if you really want to dig in and get at the culture of a place like New Orleans. When you're "down in it" you can see it at the angles and the atmosphere in which it was built and grown, and see it as locals have seen it for more that a century. See y'all next time! Libby
