Your day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle starts with the train or bus journey from Munich through the German countryside. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue.

Once inside the enchanting structure, take a tour with a guide, who shares fascinating stories about the reclusive Bavarian king who commissioned a new residence in the 19th century. Thought to be mad, King Ludwig II desired a fantasy castle built in the mountains, an obsessive feat that was still incomplete when he died. Visit the best vantage points for views and photo ops of the castle’s towers, interiors and surrounding scenery such as the lake, gorge and equally beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle.

Your tour ends with the ride back to Munich. Offering great views, the trains are clean, comfortable, and equipped with washrooms. You may walk around to talk with your fellow travelers and your guide, who can answer any questions you may have about Munich and Bavaria.

The mysterious life & death of King Ludwig II

Our guide Anna was incredible! Warm, engaging, knowledgeable and athletic! She was able to inspire curiosity in our children about King Ludwig II as they kept asking questions all weekend long. Highly recommended tour guide!

So many questions regarding Ludwig and his crazy life, that is understandable, and we are even more pleased that Anna could cover all of these questions with answers! Thanks for the 5-star review and we very much hope to welcome you to Radius Tours on your next visit to Munich!

Had a wonderful visit/tour of Neuschwanstein castle. Our tour guide, Kevin, was entertaining and extremely knowledgeable and engaging. His background in history provided for interesting tidbits and great conversation. The train ride was scenic and it was nice to relax knowing the details and timing were already taken care of. Highly recommend.

Well-organised highly recommended trip
Markus
, Jul 2020
Very well organised trip as a summary. A nice train ride to the location, info and discussions on the route. Our guide, Anna, was super lovely. She was talkative, informative and highly knowledgeable of the history and even the latest researches. It was nice to listen to her lections/stories with perfect English. The trip was sequenced nicely. Free time to wander and to gather around for info was just right. We got excellent insight historical tips not found in books of the extraordinary king Ludwig II and his ambitious intentions. A perfect day in a small group of 10 people. The guide could not enter to the castle itself, but the audioguide and COVID-19 arrangement at the castle were as good as they could be. Thanks, Viator - again - and especially thanks to Anna.

Would not do this tour again. Tour guide seemed bored and didn’t have any new information from my travel book purchased prior to my trip. He mainly made sure we got on our trains and got us our tickets. Very disappointed!

Long ride, our guide was very good, interesting & provided lots of information. The castle tour itself is short and not detailed. If you want to see this memorable sight you don’t have a choice. We liked it but there are other good ways to spend a day. Our day was cold and rainy but we still liked it.
icon Response from Host , Mar 2020
We agree, you don´t have a choice but picking our tour to have a great experience at Neuschwanstein! :) Sorry about the rain though! We are happy to host you again when the sun is out!

Schloss Neuschwanstein tour
Lisa_W
, Mar 2020
Our tour guide Dan was incredibly personable, knowledgeable and kind. It was raining and cold on our tour date but still had an amazing time and we’re able to do the inside castle tour without much of a wait. When signing up for organized group tours, we’ve learned to roll with whatever unexpected events come up, weather included. We had the opportunity to see Neuschwanstein castle up close and inside who was exactly what we wanted for this tour. Our guide and tour group were lovely so that was a bonus.

Lisa, thank you very much for taking the time to post this review of the Neuschwanstein Tour ! Sorry for all the rain :) But Dan seems to have made the day!
