Departure Point

Makena Landing Park, 5083 Makena Rd, Kihei, HI 96753, USA

Departure Time

7:00 AM
Your tour begins at Makena Landing, where you’ll greet your guide, receive a short safety briefing, and board a kayak to begin your eco-adventure. Unlike motorized vessels, kayaks generate no noise and therefore increase your chances of observing humpback whales in their natural environment.

Paddle over the calm, crystal clear waters of South Maui and observe migrating and mating pods of humpback whales: some of the largest mammals on earth. Keep a safe and respectful distance that allows you to capture fantastic photographs before you don a snorkel and plunge into an underwater wonderland.

See green sea turtles and an array of tropical fish as you follow your guide through the water. Then, return to your kayak and paddle back to your original departure point on Makena Landing.

All started on arrival with our friends, they had ore booked, I had called the number on their booking and asked to be put in the same group etc she assured me she would take care of it and we would be together, we soon found out this was not the case so we had no choice but to separate. Kayaks were great, nice day, instructor talked the talk, had knowledge, although he asked us where we wanted to kayak, and we did see some whales, he made the decision that it was to rough and murky to go snorkling, however other groups did go and said it wasn’t that bad ! So we paid full fare and only received part of what we were promised as we also went in an hour earlier ? As I am not a swimmer, and shared that up front, he vowed he would keep a close eye on us, and we would take it easy, but once we got going he seemed to forget that. On arrival back in his instructions were clear and made sense but then we with the waves and rocky shoreline ended up falling in the water and he had to assist us in getting up and out ! Not pleased at all about that as I was quite clear prior to going out about our capabilities ! After all was said and done we found our friends received all things included and more for the same money ! Eg: kayaking, snorkelling, pictures, plus plus plus full time tour promised !
