Great tour overall! Philip was a wonderful tour guide - very knowledgeable, interactive, kind and sociable. I loved the entire trip and felt satisfied with every stop - adequate free time and helpful sightseeing tips. I was sorry when it was over. Highly recommend the tour and Philip!

A lovely day Exploring

We were disappointed that we couldn't see Pena Palace due to the wildfire situation. Our tour guide was very nice but could have offered more information about the sites we did see.

No worth it, large group

The group was too large, and there were 3 little kids on this tour. I would not recommend this tour as there are too many people and you don't get to enjoy your time at these places as you're always on a time crunch.

This is a countryside tour

Unfortunately one of the destinations was closed, supposedly due to fire risks, but we saw what we could. It’s a long day in a van riding around. There are nice countryside and seaside and nature views. The palace we did see was interesting enough, but we would’ve done something different had we known of the closure. Your company was easy to work with and agreed to pick us up at a hotel in Cascias, far outside of Lisbon.

We had a wonderful time in the company of our two friendly, well prepared, funny guides. I would especially like to thank Miguel who taught us interesting facts in a funny but still professional way. I would definitely recommend a trip with him!

Some highlights but overall disappointing

On arrival at the meeting point for the bus we were allocated Miguel as our tour leader. He informed us we would no longer be going to Pena Palace as it was closed due to fire risk. Instead we were going to Sintra Palace. We left promptly at 8.30am and travelled first to Cascais. It was clear on the journey there that Miguel's English was not as good as it should have been as a tour guide. He was struggling to find the correct words to describe landmarks etc.. It was quite a pretty area where we were dropped off for one hour of free time but unfortunately many shops and access to the marina were not open yet. We next went to Cabo da Roca for 20 mins. The rocky coastline and scenery were stunning ( as was the drive there). After this we travelled to Sintra where again we had 2 hours of free time. Had a lovely lunch at Dona Maria restaurant overlooking the Palace and then wandered around the lovely narrow streets of Sintra. We met Miguel again to give us a private guided tour around the Palace and Gardens and again due to the language difficulties this turned out to be very disappointing.

Great day trip!

Highly recommend this trip! It is well organized to beat the crowds at Peña Palace (we waited less than 10 minutes in line, but the line was 2 hours long when we left the palace!) Our guide, Ricardo, was great at leading our group, explaining the interesting history of the palace as we toured through each room. We also had plenty of time on our own to explore and take photos. Afterwards we took a ride to the town, and enjoyed lunch on our own, with Ricardo’s recommendations! Then we had a short visit at picturesque Cabo da Roca. And finally, we were off to Cascais, where some of us jumped in the water at the beach, others shopped, and lots of us enjoyed ice cream! It was a great day, well spent to see lots of amazing sites in one day trip. Also of note, our amazing tour guide, Ricardo, is a singer, and we had a bonus impromptu live performance of a famous Portuguese song while en route in the tour bus.

The best of the tour was the guide. He was very attentive and knowledgeable. He gave us enough time in each of the stops to enjoy and take pictures. I recommend this tour if you are on a tight schedule in your visit to Lisbon.

A pleasant day!

Ruth was a great guide. She is friendly and humorous, and shared a lot of good historical information on the bus. She expertly led us through Pena Palace and set little challenges to add to our interest and engagement. It is a great destination. Sintra and Cascais are picturesque communities, but note that they are not walking/guided tours, and are instead offered as free time sites, with most of the time spent in Sintra having lunch. Not a problem, just a note for awareness. I also enjoyed the stop at the westernmost point of Europe. This tour was not a true small group tour as there were about 25 of us and we rode in a bus-size van. Still, everyone was on time at all meeting points (so we beat rush hour traffic on the way back to Lisbon…bonus!) and Ruth made a point of talking to everyone during the ride.

Fantastic tour with the awesome Ricardo! We loved it. The palace was great and we were so happy we got there before the long lines formed. Cabo de Roca is beautiful and so is Sintra and Cascais. Highly recommend.

Pena Castle was a steep climb on Cobble stones. Sergae (our tour guide) was young and moved too fast for me. I am 69 years old. one the way down from Castle, I took a nasty fall, and am still in excruciating pain. if you are older or have trouble walking, this is not the tour for you.

Great Day Trip from Lisbon

We had a great day exploring the Peña Palace, Sintra, Cabo de Roca, and Cascáis with our tour guide Marcus. He was very knowledgeable and funny. We learned a lot of history and memorable fun facts that we wouldn’t have if we had visited these places on our own. We also appreciated Marcus’s recommendations for Sintra, Cascáis, & Lisbon.

Has potential
Isabel_F

This tour has potential to be great. I think that it is possible to cover each place this tour covers in one day, but I think that the projected 8 hours is too short. I think the tour needed another 2-3 hours to be complete. I was already committing a whole day to this tour, making it 10-12 hours long would not have made a difference. The time in Sintra and Cascais was short, an hour more in Cascais and and hour and a half more in Sintra would have been good. The tour guide recommended two restaurants in Sintra, and the one that I chose to go to struggled to keep up with the surge of tables. I waited almost an hour for my food (i was dining alone) and was not able to walk around Sintra. If the restaurant cannot keep up with the demand, do not recommend it to a group of 20+ people who have very limited time in town. As I was finishing my meal, I received a phone call from the tour company telling me the rest of the group was waiting for me and getting angry. When I arrived at the bus, the tour guide told me everyone was okay because they had seen me waiting for my food, but alluded to having to respect the timeliness of the tour. I didn't appreciate the insinuation, as if I had control over how long it took them to serve me. The guided tour through the Palace was okay but the radios had bad range so when I was at the back of our large group, the sound was choppy and I didnt hear most of the tour. I think with new radios and adjusted times, the tour would be worth it. After Sintra and the response from the tour company, I was quite unhappy and wasn't able to enjoy the rest of the tour as much as I would have, had the response been kinder.

Just ok.

It was a nice tour day and we hit all the important stops along the way, however, I didn’t feel that our guide was seasoned enough for the amount of money we spent. He mentioned some details but felt like it was info I could’ve just looked on all the monument signs to get. I felt like there could have been more information, more backstory and details on Portuguese history which he didn’t really go over much. He was a really nice guide, but wouldn’t recommend again compared to other tours I’ve been on.

The guide Sophia and the driver. Sophia's knowledge, humour and enthusiasm was engaging from start to finish. All activities were well organised, no hassles and we had a very enjoyable experience.
