Your tour begins with pick-up from Kusadasi Cruise Port, Izmir Airport, or your Kusadasi hotel by private vehicle. After a scenic drive along the Aegean Coast, arrive at the first destination of the day – the ancient Greek city of Priene.

Accompanied by your private guide, set out to explore the ruins, which date back as early as the 4th century B.C. and get a sense of ancient life as you stroll through the agora, admire the grand theater, and see the remains of the gymnasium and Roman Baths. Stop to take photos of archaeological highlights such as the Bouleuterion, the Temple of Demeter, and the dramatically situated Temple of Athena, which stands at the foot of a sheer rock face.

Continue to ancient Miletos, once one of Anatolia’s largest cities, perched on the banks of the Meander River. Learn about the city’s long history, which dates back to Hittite times, and discover its strategic importance during the Greek and Roman era, situated on one of the major trade routes. Take time to explore the ruins both with and without your guide, and be sure to visit the star attraction – the gigantic 25,000-seat Roman theater, one of the most impressively preserved in Anatolia.

After breaking for lunch (own expense) at a local restaurant, the final stop of the day is the magnificent ruins of Didyma. Discover how the ancient site was a sacred center of ancient Greece, and trace its fascinating history as you see the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, one of the largest sanctuaries of the Greek world.

After a full day uncovering Turkey’s ancient history, return to Kusadasi, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel or cruise terminal.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Priene Antik Kenti
After a scenic drive, arrive in Priene, set dramatically at the foot of a sheer mountain wall, Priene overlooks the aptly named Meander River. This 2500 years old Ionian city was among the first to be planned with a grid system of streets. The next visit will be Miletos, is an ancient city located near Akköy at the mouth of the Buyuk Menderes (meander) River. Miletus owed its importance to its position on the trade routes. It was one of the largest cities in Anatolia with a population of between 80.000 and 100.000. Didyma was controlled by Persians, Romans and Seljuk Turks. Finally you will visit to Didyma. Didyma means "twins" and it was associated by some as being the meeting place of Zeus and Leto to have their twins Apollo and Artemis. Didyma was famed as a prophecy center dedicated to Apollo, which served a similar purpose as the Delphi of Anatolia. It was not a city but a sanctuary linked to Miletos by Milesians with a 19 km/12 mi sacred road.
