Meet a driver at your hotel for 9am or 2pm departure, then leave the city for the Sarawak countryside, passing lush farmland on your way to the Bidayuh longhouse, which is set at the edge of the rainforest.
Upon arrival at the longhouse, meet some of the community’s families, who live in a blend of shared space and private quarters, with a communal room and open verandah. The Annah Rais Longhouse still occupies the site where it was founded 200 years ago, and retains a distinctive design that makes use of leaves, wood, and bamboo.
See the baruk, a circular meeting place for Bidayuh warriors, and take in the creative carvings that adorn the longhouse interior. This is the perfect time to ask questions about traditional life in Borneo, or about day-to-day customs in the Bidayuh village. Following your time at the Bidayuh longhouse, begin the return trip to Kuching, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
