Begin your cooking experience with a morning or afternoon pickup from your Kochi hotel or the Cochin Cruise Port, transferring to your class by private vehicle. Your start time will depend on whether you’ve requested a lunch or dinner cooking session.

After exchanging warm greetings with your host family, get busy in the kitchen with the lady of the house. You’ll work on a variety of local specialties from Kerala’s “Malayali” cuisine, beginning with starters like fish fry or ‘idiappam’ (string hoppers), then continuing with an array of vegetables, rice, chicken curry, ‘vellai-appam’ (pancakes) and more. The menu on any given day can be totally different, as your meal will depend upon whatever is freshest and in-season at the market.

While the food finishes cooking, you might take a look around the family home with the guidance of your hosts, learning about daily life for these typical Kochi residents. Then sit down to eat your delicious repast, enjoying your food almost as much as the fun, friendly, conversation you’ll share with your hosts. At the end of the experience, you’ll receive a ride back to your hotel or the cruise port.
