Your Hobart cycling adventure starts as you’re outfitted with a mountain bike and helmet. From the top of Mt Wellington, admire the view of the sprawling city and River Derwent before hopping on your bike and taking off with your guide down the mountain. As the alpine terrain turns into a more verdant forest environment, make stops to enjoy the scenery and take photos.

Your winding route takes you into the Wellington foothills, where you can detour into an off-road section, if you wish (see below for more details). Then continue into the suburbs of South Hobart and past historical Battery Point, finishing your 2-wheeled journey on the Hobart waterfront at Salamanca Place.

This biking tour is designed for all levels of fitness; total cycling distance is 13 miles (21 km).

Off-road biking:

If you’re feeling adventurous during your bike tour, you may veer off the bike track into approximately 3 miles (5 km) of dirt-trail off-road cycling before meeting back up with the rest of the group about 20 minutes later at a rest stop. The whole group will then finish the bike tour together by riding into Hobart. (If you do not take the off-road route, the support van will follow to the meeting point.)
Stop At:
Mount Wellington

Super fun ride

Super fun bike ride down the mountain was exciting but you still felt comfortable knowing that you could go at your own pace. Tour guides were very thorough and full of interesting information. Loved the mountain bike section even though I had very little experience in this. Beautiful scenery.
Must do

Great guides. So much fun. An optional off road for a bit. A truly memorable experience that we would highly recommend. Pick up in town. Excellently maintained bikes.

Fun and challenge of riding a bike down Mt Wellington in the pouring rain. Also enjoyed the ride back along the waterway back into Hobart with the sun out! Hosts were very friendly and informative. We felt very safe.

Great down hill ride with a cool start at the top of the mountain. Bikes were comfortable and easy to ride.

We just returned from a 10 day trip all over Tassie and when I asked my teens what they liked the best, the ride was in their top 3. It was longer than we expected and not just on the road but through nice bushland and also some local housing areas. It wasn't as easy for me to do as the kids but hubbie and I really enjoyed it. It was freezing at the top so rug up in layers because you warm up once you get further into the ride. A fun day out, thank you.

Thanks Chris! We take a lot of care to explain the optional off-road section as it is the most challenging part of the tour. Glad you liked it!
