If you’re an Australian veteran, visit key sites of the Australian and New Zealand army corps like Long Tan and the Nui Da, or if you’re American, see major bases of the US Army by venturing to Bien Hoa Air Base and Long Binh Junction.

Please see the Itinerary section below for detailed information on each tour option.
Stop At:
The Battle of Long Tan
This full-day private tour, which can be tailored to ex-GIs and ex-diggers who fought on the battlefields in the Vietnam War, takes you to your choice of sites where you'll meet people who either survived the war or came of age in the postwar years. Whether you're an American or Aussie veteran, or a history buff with an interest in war sites and artifacts, you’ll see Vietnam as it is today. Visit Long Tan and Nui Dat, key sites of the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps’ involvement in the Vietnam War, or opt for a tour of Bien Hoa and Long Binh, which were both major bases used by the US Army. Option 1: Long Tan and Nui Dat Task Force Base After hotel pickup in Ho Chi Minh CIty, your first stop on this full-day private tour is the former site of Australia’s Nui Dat Task Force Base (Nui Dat SAS Hill). Because the ANZAC occupation of Nui Dat required the removal of all inhabitants from within a 2.5-mile (4-km) radius of the base, the people of Long Tan and Long Phuoc villages were forcibly resettled. In the late afternoon of August 18, 1966, D Company, 6th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment — despite being heavily outnumbered — fought off a large Viet Cong assault of regimental strength during a grueling 3-hour battle. Little remains of this military camp today except the columns of the main gate. Your guide will show you the former runway, now a street in the local village, and the old helipad, which now functions as a soccer field. Afterward, drive past the location of Horseshoe Fire Support Base (access is not permitted due to the continued presence of land mines) to the Discourtesy Rubber Plantation. Visit the Long Tan Cross Memorial, a focal point for remembrance, before continuing on to the Long Phuoc Tunnels. Like other tunnel systems found in Vietnam, Long Phuoc included meeting areas, first aid stations and fighting pits underground. Hear fascinating commentary from your guide as you explore each site and drive to Ba Ria for lunch before returning to Ho Chi Minh City, with drop-off at your hotel.

Tour guide, Tony, was quite a character. He told us he was a 71 year old veteran of the South Vietnam Army who acted ac an interpreter for the Australian Army. Spoke decent English. Was very knowledgeable about the ANZAC site. When he found out I was a US Army Vietnam War veteran and wanted to visit our base camp at Bien Hoa, he took us there. We had a good day with Tony.

This tour seems only suited for veterans. I didn't learn much about the war and didn't see half of the sites that were listed on the tour description. At the end of the tour, I wondered why I spent 6 hours driving time to see the few items that we saw. I learned more about the war at the war museum and wished I would have skipped this tour.

I booked this tour for ANZAC Day, and thought I would just have the standard tour. Instead of the 8am pickup, I was so fortunate that the local tour organisation, knew that it was ANZAC Day and picked me up at 2:45 am. I was able to attend the Dawn Service at the Long Tan cross. It was a very moving service with over 600 attending. On the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC landing, I had a memorable experience.

This tour was an absolute waste of time and money. Essentially we spent 4 plus hours in heavy traffic listening to repetitive stories about the organization of the various military districts during the war. We stopped in front of the old Bien Hoa airfield at least that was what we were told it was and told to take pictures. As we attempted to do so we were warned by the Vietnamese military guard to not take pictures. The description of this tour stated that we would be taken to a Pagoda where we would have a panorama view of the old base and be given binoculars to view inside. That did not happen! Not even anything close. We were driven to a couple of locations, not more than 200 yards from the gate and told we could take photos. The only thing to take a photo of was a concrete wall. If you are a US veteran, forget this tour and save your money!

Was quite worthwhile, the guide was helpful and the vehicle comfortable.Other than the memorial itself there is not much to see but I wanted to see where the Australian Forces were based.

Private Guide was very knowledgeable and made the excursion to Long Tan and Nui Dat a very good experience. The guide was very respectful of the meaning of Long Tan to Australians . The vehicle was well presented with an excellent driver.

Rather disappointing. Sites stand decimated and what little is left is based on one's own imagination. Was not worth the length of time and money spent on this tour.
