We took the 3 hour ride. We were 2 beginner riders but everything was explained clearly and we felt safe and in good hands. Our guide Alannah was an experienced rider and warm and friendly. The scenery was beautiful and we loved riding along the beach. Cleggan village is about one and a half hours drive from Galway. We stoppped at Olivers in Cleggan for lunch and had some delicious soup for €3.50.

My friend and I always book a horseback ride during our summer professional conference. We have been to Colorado, Massachusetts, Florida, and Arizona and this was by far the best ride. The tour guides kept us safe but also allowed us to trot and canter. The horses were well kept and the scenery was beautiful!

While I loved the tour on horseback riding on the beach, the weather was cold and it even hailed in July! I believe it should be noted that the distance from Galway City is at least an hour and a half to 2 hour drive. You can take the bus to Cliffden if the schedule coordinates with the tour. I took a taxi so as not to be late. The return bus did not meet up with the bus to my hotel area and I again had to take a very expensive cab ride. Cleggan Village is a small area with no ATM - be prepared.
