Independent Trip to Siena from Florence with Private Transport

Choose a morning or afternoon departure when you book. Then, begin with hotel pickup in central Florence, and journey south by private sedan or minivan (depending on numbers in your group), through Tuscany’s famous wine producing region of Chianti.

Gaze at the rolling landscapes and vineyards, and along the way, pass the fortified village of Monteriggioni, admiring its perfectly preserved perimeter walls rising up from picturesque countryside.

Then, continue to nearby Siena, Tuscany’s most beautiful medieval hilltop town. Admire the lovely skyline as you approach, and on arrival, hop out of your vehicle and enjoy free time to relax, explore and sightsee as you wish.

Stroll down the medieval streets of the UNESCO-listed old center, and stop to admire Gothic buildings like 13th-century Siena Cathedral, a striped marble masterpiece that’s home to treasures by Michelangelo, Donatello and other great artists. Head inside (own expense) to see the frescoes, murals, and sculptures, and the black-and-white interior.

Meander around the Piazza del Campo, the fan-shaped square that is Siena’s showpiece, and the site of its twice-annual Il Palio horse race. Perhaps relax over coffee as you absorb the piazza’s beauty, and views of its Town Hall (Palazzo Pubblico) and Tower of Mangia (Torre del Mangia), the 288-foot (88-meter) redbrick medieval tower that dominates the square.

Finally, maybe browse Siena’s boutiques and craft shops for gifts and goodies. Local antiques, ceramics, paper, and regional culinary delicacies can all be found here.

When it’s time, return to your vehicle and travel back to Florence, where your trip finishes with a hotel drop-off.
