Returns to original departure point
Meet your guide in the Piazza della Repubblica in central Florence. Learn about the history of this square, which was originally the ancient Roman forum, before beginning your stroll through the city.

Visit the multi-colored Duomo, Florence's Santa Maria della Fiore cathedral. The impressive structure with its terra cotta dome dominates the city's skyline. See beautiful frescoes inside. Learn about the complex design of Brunelleschi's dome. See Giotto's bell tower and the lovely baptistery just outside the church – all three are on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

Continue your walk toward what was once the center of politics in Renaissance Florence – the Piazza della Signoria. Admire the Palazzo Vecchio on one side of the square, once the Medici family home, and the many sculptures that surround the piazza – including a replica of Michelangelo's 'David' where the original once stood.

Walk to the banks of the nearby Arno River and to the Ponte Vecchio, a Medieval arched bridge that crosses the river. Today, it's lined with jewelry shops, but during the Renaissance era it was butchers who occupied these shops.

The final stop of the tour is Santa Croce, another important church in Florence in which many famous Florentines are buried – including Michelangelo and Galileo.
