Duomo Terraces

Make your way to the Piazza San Marco, where you’ll meet your guide. Walk right past the long lines at the Accademia Gallery, and visit one of the museum’s most iconic masterworks: the David, a longtime symbol of the small (but mighty) Florentine Republic. You’ll also have time to explore some of Michelangelo’s unfinished sculptures, The Slaves, which offer a fascinating insight into the artist’s creation process.

Continue to the Duomo Baptistry to see its famous doors, replicas of the originals, which you’ll see later in the Duomo Museum. Learn stories about the members of the powerful Medici family that were baptized here, and see some of the Duomo’s exquisite artwork.

The next stop is the Duomo Museum, which offers a glimpse of how the Cathedral’s original façade once looked, and contains masterpieces by Michelangelo and Donatello. Walk past the lines into the Duomo itself, where you’ll have special access to a room of statues from the Cathedral’s original façade. This tour also gets you pass the velvet ropes, so you can take in the Cathedral’s remarkable detailing up close.

Finish the tour with a once-in-a-lifetime experience: skip the lines for the Duomo Terraces, and climb all the way to the top for panoramic views of Florence. This tour concludes at the Duomo Terraces.

Awesome Tour

My family and I loved the tour. Being able to see David early before the crowds was awesome. The tour also allowed us to see the baptistery and cathedral in Florence. The best part of the tour was climbing to the top of the cathedral and seeing the beautiful Tuscan countryside. The tour guide was awesome providing an abundance of information about the town and artwork.

The tour of the Academia...

The tour of the Academia was pretty sparse. The guide for the Duomo did a better job. You could easily do these self-guided.

Fantastic tour and reward!

The tour was the ONLY way to go! Our guides were FANTASTIC and we didn’t have to wait in any lines! Also, make sure you take a taxi in to Florence to meet your guide(s) at San Marcos Square as parking is insane to find! The climb to the top of the Duomo is well worth the steep and narrow stairwell! You’re totally rewarded with the views from the top! And then after the climb and descent you’ll be ready to consume mass quantities of pasta and pizza!

Unforgettable David
Frances_S

We joined our group of 14 and headed to the Accademia to see Michelangelo’s David. The statue is incredible and even more beautiful and amazing than what we had expected. After our time in the Gallery we headed to the Cathedral of Santa Mario del Fiore for a tour of the cathedral and the duomo. Unfortunately our guide left and we were put with another guide so ended up in a group of close to 30 people. The new guide, Angelo, was great but it was too large of a group and certainly not what we had paid for. The views from the balcony was amazing and it was great to spend time there to take pictures of Florence.

Wonderful experience

It is definitely a hike up to the top of the Doumo but the views are fantastic. And on the way up and down you are right next the the paintings in the dome. The David is fantastic. A small museum and the guide made each piece come alive with a story.

Worth the Climb

Our guide was great!! He explained historic events as stories, not like encyclopedia text. The climb is challenging, but there are opportunities to pull off to the side and rest and regain your breath.
