Meet your friendly, local guide on O’Connell Street in central Dublin. Learn how the road is one of Europe’s widest streets, and set off to explore the city center while learning about Dublin’s eventful history and laid-back culture.

Stroll along O’Connell Street and see the General Post Office, a place regarded as hugely symbolic by the Irish. Admire the grand façade, and learn how Irish rebels occupied the building during the Easter Rising of April 1916, an event that ultimately led to an independent Ireland.

Next, follow your guide through the bustling Henry Street shopping district to the 18th-century St Mary’s Church. Head inside to admire some of the striking features, including a beautiful stained glass window and Renatus Harris-built organ that towers over the bar.

Continue into Dublin’s Italian Quarter, a vibrant area of shops and restaurants situated on the north banks of the Liffey River and also known as Quarter Bloom. As you stroll here, admire the views of the Liffey, and hear how the river has served as a trading lifeline of Dublin from Viking days.

Head on to Temple Bar, the city’s designated ‘cultural quarter’ and trace the narrow cobbled streets, still laid out in a pattern unchanged from medieval times. Then, stroll to Dublin City Hall, a magnificent example of the stately Georgian architecture that Dublin is renowned for. Walk from here to view 800-year-old Dublin Castle, and the former Irish Houses of Parliament, the world’s first purpose-built parliament house.

Finally, arrive at Trinity College, the college that makes up Ireland’s oldest university. Founded in 1592, this famous place of learning was one of seven established just before the Tudor monarchy extended its authority over Ireland as a whole. View the historical buildings, many set around cobbled quadrangles, and finish your tour here when you bid goodbye to your guide.

Your tour ticket also entitles you to valuable discounts at Dublin’s Abbey Theatre, The Church—the bar and restaurant set in St Mary’s Church—and Bewley’s Café. Be sure to take advantage of these deals during the rest of your time in the city!

Great tour!
, Nov 2019
Our guide Peter, a Dublin native, was fun and knowledgeable. We got to see lots of interesting sights and the group was kept at a small, manageable number of people.

Thank you. Peter is not only very experienced but full of stories (all true, of course) and great courtesy and personality. I will pass this on to him. As regards group size we do try, where at all possible, to keep them at manageable-sized numbers (we max at 25 but prefer less than 20) as we know some groups seem to be overlarge and therefore uncomfortable and a bit impersonal. Kind regards. Pat
Really intro to the city
, Nov 2019
Our guide was friendly, fun, and knowledgeable! The only downside was a cold, windy November Dublin day, but that wasn't her fault of course...

Thank you for your review. As you say, not much we can do about the weather unfortunately! But I'm glad the rest of the tour lived up to our standards
Great Introduction to Dublin
, Oct 2019
Our guide was terrific and so knowledgeable. We learned about the history and highlights of the city at "ground" level and a good pace. It gave us a good starting place for a city we had never been to before.

Great overview and start

It was a worthwhile excursion. It provides a quick glimpse of Dublin City Centre (points of interest). It provides an overview of Dublin, it's history, through time... The guide was great, I just don't remember the exact name/spelling. She has an Irish/Celtic name, something like Anna but spelled different. She provided a wealth of information. Great! I recommend this tour for your first day in Dublin, if possible, this way you get an idea of where to come back to, if you want more...
Great detailed walk through Dublin

Tremendous walk. Weather was a bit cold and windy but great details in all we saw. History of Post Office with personal connections, a pub formed from a church and more.
