Departure Time

3:00 PM
After pickup from your central Dubai hotel, relax into your air-conditioned 4x4 and journey into the desert. On route, chat to your guide, who acts as your driver, and hear fascinating stories about Dubai and the desert around you.

Go off road and head into an area of dunes for an exciting dune bash. Hold tight as your 4x4 ploughs up the sandy slopes before skidding and sliding back down.

Continue to a beautiful, Bedouin-style desert camp nestled in the heart of the dunes. Hop out of your 4x4 into the torchlit grounds and enjoy a revitalizing Arabic coffee and fresh dates. If you wish, try an aromatic shisha (Arabic water pipe) along with your coffee.

Duly refreshed, take off on a quad bike ride. Listen to a safety briefing and instructions, pull on a provided helmet, and zip and zoom around the camp and desert terrain.

Visit a camel farm and enjoy a short ride on one of these hardy desert animals. Afterward, admire some examples of delicate sand art, and if you wish, get a henna tattoo etched onto your hands or feet.

As darkness falls, return to the camp for a delectable barbecue dinner. Menus may vary, but typical dishes include shawarma (spit-roast meat wraps), Arabic salads and kebabs teamed with complimentary sodas and additional drinks (own expense) from the bar.

During your meal, enjoy a glittering belly dance show and watch ‘tanoura’ dancers spin, whirling dervish-style, across the floor, in time to rhythmic Arabian music.

Finally, return to Dubai by 4x4 and end your experience with a hotel drop-off.

Lack luster is an overstatement

The views of the desert were amazing, especially as we were bashing through the dunes in the SUV. That was truly the highlight of the activity. The camel ride was abbreviated (just led in a small circle and it was over in 90 seconds). The belly dance & fire twirler show was amateur night at best and the food served was awful as was the customer service at the desert location. The vendors were extremely aggressive, didn't understand English well and were not equipped for tourists at all. What I mean by that is that they didn't have change for their own currency. Why have a tourist activity and not be prepared that each customer would not have the exact change handy? The 4x4 ride was similar to the camel ride, we rode in a small circle for 5 minutes and it was over. The viator advertisement made it appear that we would be riding them to a destination of some sort, rather than a test drive. Bottom line - this is NOT an activity I would recommend to anyone. There are numerous other activities (Viator and otherwise) that are worth your time and money.

So glad that you enjoyed the dune bashing, that's the highlight. Camel ride is an add on and is for pictures and experience and its not a camel safari, if you book camel safari , its a different tour. I am not sure what did you compare the entertainment show with, we have excellent remarks for our shows, At the camp site, its your decision whether to buy something or not, its not a compulsion and we will never control that. ATV is for 15 mns and is complimentary, and no other company in Dubai will give you that. We don't go hundred miles into the desert because after the tour its not safe to drive too long in darkness and obviously you don't see anything around as its dark. So all the camps are situated at a safe distance from main roads, but the camps are in the desert. The guides are always there and at any point if there was any discomfort about anything, all you had to do was ask the guide and they would willingly help, that's their job. Its unfortunate that it was not as per your expectations, but we have huge five star reviews for the same product for so many years and you can check that.

I had a long layover at Dubai Airport so I thought of booking a day tour and called Viator, the representative was very helpful, found a last min tour and made arrangements for pickup/dropoff. It was definitely worth it, super glad I picked this tour. The tour was very organized, clean camp, fun desert safari, good food (options of vegetarians as well), our guide was very informative, and kept us engaged from the beginning til end of the tour.

Excellent Fun

Excellent, good value for money! Mohammed our driver, picked us up from our hotel and after a pit stop to refuel (great joy to my husband as there were numerous fast cars also at the petrol station) we then drove out to the desert and began the dune bashing - great fun, we stopped twice for 10 mins for photos and to purchase Arabic head scarves for those that wanted them. After the dune bashing we arrived at the ‘camp’ for the evening where we did a short camel ride and dune buggies - this is a free extra so not up over the dunes but round a track still fun but if that is the main thing for you bear that in mind. The evening consisted of food and entertainment, water and tea/coffee are provided and you can purchase alcohol if you want. The entertainment is traditional spinning dance, fire show and a belly dancer. We had a wonderful day/evening our driver was brilliant, I would totally recommend this trip.

pleasant trip to the desert

This trip was well organised. We were picked on time from our hotel and our driver cum guide Mohammed was very friendly and helpful. We went straight to the dune bashing (about an hour away) followed by the ATV drive (which is basically 15 min going round and round in circles). We opted for the extra 30 min ATV drive in the desert for which we had to pay separately. This was followed by a 3 min camel ride (again mainly for photographs). Then dinner and entertainment started. The entertainment was nice (basically belly dancers and some other local dancing). The food was reasonable, but I guess they were trying to cater to a wide range of nationalities and tastes and they seemed to have something for everyone. During the entertainment you also had a chance to take pictures with a falcon. The drive back also took around 45 min. Overall a nice trip with a nice guide cum driver. I would recommend if you are in dubai and want to experience the desert for the first time. There was no sandboarding which I believe is only for the morning tours.

The safari driver was rude and he avoided the dunas trip, he took us for a plain desert 🐫 road , the rest of the passengers are from India so he was speaking Hindu with them, one of the lady was so noisy and didn’t stop talking

Experience was very positive. We were running slightly late due to Dubai traffic and tour provider was very responsive and waited an extra 10 minutes to meet them.

Desert Safari

Very poor. This is my second time (different company) doing a desert safari and was very disappointed. I specifically chose this trip because it didn't have sand bashing-which I already did and was not pleased. The attraction did include the sand bashing but my driver was kind enough to leave me at camp. ATV was another HUGE disappointment. The ride is in a circle around a small track for 10 minutes; it was a joke as were the camel rides. We were left at camp to sit and wait 2 hours in the heat for food and entertainment. Trip stated that soda/drinks were included but we were only offered small water while we waited for the camp to setup and begin their extravaganza (?) There was a group who was served various beverages before and I was informed they were "VIP" who also had their food served instead of waiting on a long line for a buffet.. Dinner was ok, 2*, dessert was horrible. We couldn't wait for the trip to end and was tempted to call a cab but we were clueless of our location in the desert. I'm a travel agent, trust me book elsewhere.

Hi, you chose to stay at the camp while it was being set up, so obviously there would have been staff working at that time, setting up. ATV ride is a free/complimentary activity on this tour from the company just offered as an experience, as are the camel rides so we are not sure what you were expecting. There was a group of old people who requested to be served at their table, so that is what you may have observed. Please do check our last 15 reviews and you will understand what we are all about. If you wanted anything extra, all you had to do was ask the Guide. Our friendly and professional guides always look after our clients, but expectations for things not on the menu is not possible in the desert.
