Great adventure through German and Czech national parks
Anne_A
, Jul 2022
This was a great trip which I highly recommend. One note of caution - it is a full day with A LOT of walking (20K steps) and not much down time, so you need to be mentally and physically prepared. It's not super strenuous hiking but there is a lot of of it (and a lot of up and down including a long walk down a lot of stairs!). So, knowing that, come prepared to hike through some amazing parks, see beautiful scenery, eat delicious Czech food and be well taken care of by the staff. We had the pleasure of being guided by William who was very funny and had good tidbits to share and we were driven to/from our hotel by Jan who was also funny and full of information. A really fun day!
Amazing day

I traveled solo and signed up for this trip. I was picked up in time from my guest house which was great and we met a group of 10 others. The trip was excellent. Yan was very nice and helpful and knowledgeable. The hike was a bit challenging for me but Yan kept encouraging and supporting me until I got to reach the top and see the view. The views and landscape were spectacular. Food was excellent (which was included with the trip as well as beer) and the boat cruise was good. Overall, it was a great experience and I will highly recommend for anyone that wants to spend the day in nature.

This is great tour. We saw the national park from both German side and Czech side. Very beautiful. Jan is great tour guide. The tour also covers beer in two different restaurant. The lunch is great Czech food. The boat ride is awesome.
I walked 21000 steps from this tour. A lot of walking. Really fun. View is amazing.

This was an outstanding day! We were fortunate enough to be the only people on our tour and Jan made sure we had a first class experience! The views were beyond amazing, the food & beer top and Jan was gracious and so attentive to making sure the day was exactly what we wanted! You definitely need a good base of fitness for this tour but all the climbs and step are worth the effort! Thanks for the memories Jan and we highly recommend this tour!
Just bring your desire to hike and see amazing sights!

An amazing guide and experience in a beautiful national park that straddles Germany AND The Czech Republic
(REMEMBER your passport/vaccination or other documentation - you cross the border and it may be asked for)
The trip out to the park was about 35 min from central Dresden.
I’d split the excursion into two main parts:
Climb up to the arch - a nice walk up; it’s a good walk that we forged through almost too quickly - our guide Jan was constantly reminding me it’s not a race; so there is more than enough time to make it up with a more leisurely stride than mine. The fresh air and scenery helped moderate that a bit.
Once up there - we took pictures and Jan took pictures of us along the way; it’s a great view and the bridge to the old fort has a LOTR vibe going.
We stopped in the restaurant at the top for some beer (50/50 as recommended - DELISH!); then headed back down to go to the restaurant reserved for us for lunch. We remained a private tour, but met one of the other tour guide (William) and his charge who was from Italy and spoke great English despite his self-consciousness.
Lunch was great; the goulash and chicken with risotto were both delicious (as was more beer!).
Walk down to the gorge - another nice walk down; fortunately Jan had moderated me to a relaxed state (beer helped) and got to see pictures of a saint below the path we were on that others walked right by.
The trail eventually led to the boat ride that would take you through the dammed portion of the tributary before it reached the Elbe.
The boat ride was fun and while in Czech; Jan translated for us and it really is a mix between facts and whimsy. Rock formations were pointed out for different pop-culture characters (Jabba the Hut as one example) and everyone got a kick out of the boatsman that hammed it up as he poled us forward.
It was a great day and I highly recommend Cayman for your tour needs; Jan took care of our every need and you’d be in good hands with him.
Magical day hike

Thank you Simona of Cayman Travel for making arangements so I could take this tour even though I was the only one going from Dresden. I was able to join a group of three going from Prague so we made a group of four. This meant that our fantastic guide Sarka could give all of us full attention. Our guide was both entertaining and knowledgeable. Be warned that there is quite a bit of walking: uphill, downhill, stairs... It was a warm and humid day which made it pretty hard work. Well worth it though! The incuded lunch in a nice restaurant was very good with a number of dishes to choose from.

I booked and paid for this tour weeks ago. The day before the tour I received a message from the company asking if I could postpone the tour for 3 days because I was the only one who registered. I rejected as I had other arranged meetings. The evening before the tour I was notified that it had been cancelled. The tour company (Cayman Travel Business Consultants s.r.o. - Guided Tours) had been extremely irresponsible. They should still go ahead only if there is only one participant, just like what many other tour companies would do. In addition, if they had to cancel the tour, they should do it DAYS before that! They just screwed up my whole plan and wasted my whole day. The company is no longer replying to my emails and I hope viator will investigate and penalise this company. AVOID THIS TOUR!!!

Trip did not live up to the hype we had read in researching before this trip. Our guide, Peter, while pleasant enough seemed more engrossed in his phone than imparting information to guests. Very little information was offered about the places we visited and we felt as if he was simply going through his paces. Also we were concerned that the driver who collected us from Dresden, also pleasant enough, in the morning spent a lot of texting while driving which we found unnerving. Scenery was great although the castle at the end of the bridge was closed which our guide clearly found unexpected but perhaps it was something which the tour operator should have know in advance. Given the price, we expected more. Sorry if this seems negative but we are well-travelled and being honest.

LOVED this tour with Peter - he is a GREAT tour guide! Would highly recommend this tour - I know its a bit pricey but its well worth the money. Peter takes great care of his guests. We only had about 7 people in our group which made it nice. The area he takes you to is so beautiful. The walk isn't too bad. We had a nice drink at one place. Then a great lunch at another place. We had a boat ride. So many things included in this tour!

Amazing day with Jacob! Extremely well organized and super friendly! It was one of the best experience on a day tour I have had with Viator.
Tour involves quite a bit of walking up and down the hill, nothing extreme but you have to be more or less fit. Trust me, the beauty of the area and a great guide's job is worth every minute of it! Highly recommended!

Sorting, ranking, and search results
Viator wants to make your searches as relevant as possible. That’s why we offer many ways to help you find the right experiences for you.
On some pages, you can select how to sort the results we display and also use filter options to see only those search results that meet your chosen preferences. You’ll see explanations of what those sort options mean when you select them.
You’ll see some experiences with a “Promoted” badge, which means that the operators of those experiences have agreed to pay Viator more to have their experience highlighted.
If you see an Experience Award Winner label, the award is based on average review ratings, share of bookings with a review, and number of bookings through Viator over a 12-month period.
The importance of any one factor over any other in a sort order varies, and the balance is constantly being reviewed and adjusted. We’re always updating our systems and testing new ways to refine and improve your results to make them as relevant as possible to meet your needs.
