Departure Time

8:00 AM
Get up close and personal with the culture of the ancient Inca civilization as you explore the main archaeological sites of the Sacred Valley near the empire’s former capital of Cusco. History lovers are sure to delight in this chance to explore this beautiful mountain valley, harboring a wealth of important Inca sites.

Start your day with a morning pickup from your hotel in Cusco, continuing first to the historic city of Pisac. The city was once known as a key trading post, offering a central location for Inca traders to barter for goods. The tradition persists to this day at Pisac’s well-known market, offering you the opportunity to browse for a wealth of handcrafted textiles and souvenirs made by the local community.

If you happen to be visiting Pisac on a Sunday, witness the town’s famous mass, conducted in both Quechua and Spanish. Observe the town’s collection of dignitaries in attendance, and watching as they play the pututo, a traditional musical instrument.

Take a break after finishing your time in Pisac with a tasty lunch of Peruvian specialties, continuing to the Fortress of Ollantaytambo (entrance not included) to discover its impressive Temple of the Sun. During the Incan civil war, this imposing structure’s 12-foot (3.5-m) stones served as a key defensive barrier.

After finishing your exploration of Ollantaytambo, continue back to your Cusco hotel.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Pisac
Travel back in time to the Sacred Valley of the Incas with a day that begins in Pisac. This native town was once where “exchange transactions” took place. In this type of transaction, customers would exchange one good for another instead of using currency. Visit the market of Pisac where you can purchase beautifully crafted products hand-made by the locals. On Sunday, the main attraction is a mass celebrated in Quechua and conducted in Spanish. It is attended by the mayors and their attendants who play traditional musical instruments called "pututos." Afterwards, you'll enjoy a typical Peruvian lunch (included in price) before visiting the fortress of Ollantaytambo and its main attraction, the Temple of the Sun. Built using massive stones, each one approximately 12 feet (3.5m) tall, this temple was used as a fortress during the time of the Incan civil war.

I really enjoyed the length and price of this tour. Riding around the Sacred Valley was absolutely beautiful and our guide had interesting facts to give us throughout the day. The market that was visited was probably the best I visited in Peru and lunch was delicious. Would 10/10 recommend.

Not worth it

Two first stops were for sales. Shop and a big market in Pisac. A tour guide just left us for an hour to walk around. The time was wasted. The lunch was very good. I wish there were more history and information about the country from the guide. The only thing that was worth visiting is Fortress of Ollantaytambo. Please consider the possibility to include Pisac ruins in this day trip as well.

Dear MikesM7657DO, Thank you for taking the time to review our service. We value each of your comments which will help us in the continuous improvement of our services. We also thank you for the given suggestion; reviews like these are critical in our continuous efforts of providing the best experience and services. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the lunch and Ollantaytambo, we work with the best restaurants in the zone and we always get good reviews about them. Ollantaytambo is a very mystic place with great views and nice to explore. In Pisac we visit the local market, as specified in the program, showing the best of the local art and traditions. Once again thank you for your comments, if you have additional feedback or information you’d like to share with us, please don’t hesitate to reach out via calidad@vipac.pe Warm Regards, Quality Department Viajes Pacífico

The tour itself was very well rounded, went to all the great spots..had a good amount of time to ourselves and the stops that we went to for markets to sell us stuff we learned a great deal about the culture so I didn’t feel like they were just trying to get us to buy things.Ernesto is phenomenal!!!!
