This activity includes roundtrip transfer from your hotel, apartment or your house.
Depart from Cusco in the morning, with pickup from your hotel and a transfer from the city center to your train station. Your departure location and travel experience depend on the seating option you’ve selected. Guests can choose from the Expedition train—the Vistadome, with glass on all sides for better viewing—or the Executive Class with comfortable seats.

Then enjoy a scenic train ride, offering stunning views of the mountainous terrain that makes up the area near Machu Picchu.

Arrive in Aguas Calientes, the small village located at the base of this famous Inca site, and board a bus for the short ride to this sacred citadel. Completed around 1450, when the Inca Empire was at the peak of its power and influence, the site was left vacant within 100 years of its creation, thanks to the conquest of the Inca people by the Spanish. Though the site today remains abandoned, many believe Machu Picchu to be a key center of spiritual energy.

Follow your guide through the main streets of this marvel of ancient engineering. Learn about the site’s history and design as you meander through its town square, key religious sites, an elaborate network of agricultural terraces, and intricately-designed stone staircases.

After spending a few hours at the site, return by bus to the train station in Aguas Calientes and then to your chosen train for the trip back to Cusco.

Such a phenomenal experience! The guide was exceptional and gave such detailed history about Machu Pichu. I highly recommend booking this tour.

Great for solo and couple travelers

    , Jul 2022
Franklin did an EXCELLENT job of leading our group through the site and so much was learned! We ended up having about 4 hours in the site, and enough time for breakfast and lunch in the city beforehand. The organizers sent very detailed instructions the night before and were great with communicating. The only thing that might be difficult for some travelers is that you are taking the bus, and the train unaccompanied. This is very easy and your hand is held the entire way. Once at the site, your guide will help you out with everything, and ours took some great photos for us! I would for sure use them again! *as a note, after reading a lot of other reviews, people tend to complain about the bus ride, the train ride, how crowded the site is, and they didn’t like the city. None of these are within the limits of what a tour agency can fix, so some patience is needed.

    Bad experience

Viator were not readily available to help. It was not a good experience. Got to see Machu Picchu, but would not use this company again. They did not fulfill their obligations. Had to find our own way back to Cusco from Ollantaytambo. The guides said they would have someone waiting. No one was there. Do not use this company if you can

Communication and transportation needs to be improved
    Deanna_Q
    , Jul 2022
Although my friend and I booked our reservations for the tour at the same time, and were staying at the same hotel, we were separated for the tour so much of my transportation portions of my tour were solo. When I arrived at the train station, the guide that picked me up, John, told us to wait and then we never saw him again. I was not given any instructions for the train, or what to expect when I arrived at the train station. I do not speak Spanish and this was not helpful to me to not get clear instructions, and also having difficulty communicating with others for help. My friend was able to get her tour guide to wait for me since I was by myself. The tour and tour guide for Machu Picchu was great. Then, it got bad again with transportation. I was given the earliest train time. But no bus ticket back to my hotel. I asked for assistance, but was not given the ticket I needed. I got on the train ride which was supposed to be 3.5 hrs to take me back to Cusco. One in half hours into the train ride, they stopped and told us to get off because there is a strike for their train system starting on Monday. We then had to board a bus for a 2hr ride to Cusco. Overall the transportation was disorganized and the lack of communication was horrible.

    The transportation to...
    JeannineFaye_G
    , Jul 2022
The transportation to arrive to machu pichu was very disorganized and terrible. I did not have a tour guide with me the entire time and had to figure out my bus and train transportation myself while everyone around me only spoke Spanish so it was very challenging. Upon arrival to machu pichu, the tour guide was going to combine a Spanish and English tour when I had booked for English only. It took a while before an English tour guide was created. Highlights was visiting the actual site and the history provided by our guide. Needs a lot of work on transportation organization.

MUST DO ONCE AT LEAST IN YOUR LIFE

    , Jul 2022
Excellent service!! Will do it again in a heartbeat. Our guide was Aide, she was beyond amazing. PLEASE before you go, triple check what you need and DO NOT forget those items, like sunscreen and mosquito repellent (even in winter), dress with layers a hat, etc. Read, read and read how to acclimate and ask the locals. Some people have hard time in the altitude. You can be miserable. Side note: if you are an international travel from the US or Europe and never been to Peru before, you must be open mind and go with the flow. They have an organized Chaos. They can only function like that. Forget everything you know and you can complain about anything here. Learn what are getting into. Strikes, crazy traffic, a different life style...

    Tourist trap
    Jana_F
    , Jul 2022
Of course this has been a bucket list item of mine, and getting the unique Machu Picchu photo, however it is an absolute tourist trap. Only gave it 3 stars because the cost really isnt justified, its cheaper to book it all separately and besides it was a very rushed day. 3:30hrs train ride from cusco, to be rushed on the bus up the mountain. (about 25mins). I was lucky enough to be alone with my guide, rather than a huge group, but we still hassled through the whole circuit. There were so many tourists everywhere, it was just incredibly crowded, and hardly enough time to stop anywhere to take in the views or really talk about some history. My guide was knowledgeable, but still it felt like more of a marathon, snapping tons of pics to enjoy later. As soon as we were done running through the circuit we rushed back to the busses to go downhill, and i had about an hour to roam before boarding the train to head back to cusco. If its on your bucketlist to get that infamous picture (only viewable from circuit 1) then spend the money, otherwise skip this.

Trip to Machu Picchu is a must - just choose another company. I paid for train service from Cusco to MP both ways. However, when I received my tickets at 4:40am the day of travel - the first segment was bi-modal ( meaning bus). This company has received several low ratings due to communication issues. I dont understand why we get tickets information last minute when we made the reservations 3 weeks in advance.

Great Tour! Rough transpiration getting there/back
    Christopher_V
    , Jul 2022
The tour of Machu Picchu was incredible! I would give 5 stars if that was it. I gave three stars because the transportation to and from Machu Picchu wasn’t great given the price. This package is advertised as 14 hours round trip but it is closer to 17-18 hours round trip which was rough. The bus ride from the train. Station was 2+ hours and had no bathroom. On a positive note, the 360 train was great!

Great Experience – But could have been better
    Juan_C
    , Jul 2022
I booked this tour because it was the most expensive / best reviewed on Aviator. There were similar options, but I have had great experiences by booking always the most expensive one compared with similar ones when doing once-in-a-lifetime trips (so far they had been really worth every cent vs the cheaper options). In this specific case, I think the extra price wasn't worth as the time in Macchu Pichu was extremely short. I think the reason is that the company had 2 more people with different times and instead of doing 2 tours try to combine both, meaning I spend only 2.5h in Machu Picchu and then almost 3 hours in the town (there is absolutely nothing worth being there) so that the other people could be on their train on time. In general the organization seemed very poor, the quality of the service also not worth the extra money. 100% sure all tours are the same and extremely overpriced, but I have higher expectations because this was the most expensive of them all. I highly recommend visiting Machu Picchu, if you have time to plan I would book all separately, have more liberty and save 50% of the price.

Thank you for your comment, it helps us to improve our service. Our apology for the delays in the town of Machu Picchu waiting other clients and to wait the train to go back Cusco. The visit to Machu Picchu is complex and demands many arragments, we suggest for the travelers to buy the excursion with 60 days in advance to avoid delays in the tour. Thank you again and we hope the whole experience in our country was satisfactory.

Wonderful Day trip to Machu Picchu
    Mark_P
    , Jul 2022
Everything worked well. It makes for a long day, but if you want to see Machu Picchu in a day and still have some time to check out some shops, and enjoy amazing scenery on the train ride, then this is the perfect tour. Getting to the site before the rush of crowds was also nice. Plenty of opportunities to stop for pictures without a bunch of other people getting in the way.

    , Jun 2022
Machu picchu itself was nice but the organization was a bit lackluster. I tried asking for a planning (which they don't provide themselves) to know if we would have breakfast (you don't!), how long we would be traveling and when we would be back. Even after multiple messages they were unable to give me a simple overview of what we would be doing at what time. So if you are reading this: make sure to bring food or you won't have any for the first 4 and a half hours of the trip.

The guide is very informative and humble. He provided picture and stone to inform me in a very detail about history of machu picchu. Everything were provided by the tour except breakfast, lunch, dinner and water but You can find everything there. The guide will wait for us at Machu picchu, on the way going from cuzco they will arrange pickup car from the hotel and drop us at bus station and give instruction on how to change to the vista dome train which we have to check by ourselves. The lady who came and picked me up from the hotel was very helpful also, the guy who picked me up at the train station after I arrived in cuzco. It was a long day but worth for once in a life time

We were picked up from our hotel early (4.30am). The communication was very good from the day before - make sure you have WhatsApp! The pickup was on time and super friendly. The transfer is a bit hectic and can be confusing but just go with the flow and you'll be fine, everything falls into place. As soon as the sun rises the scenery is amazing so the bus and train transfers were not as unpleasant as one might think. On arrival our guide Marco was waiting with a name board. His English was great and he was very knowledgeable. Machu Pichu is busy but you won't be disappointed!. Following the visit Marco recommended a Peruvian restaurant for lunch. We were a bit sceptical but the food and drink was amazing and well priced (beween £8 and £13 for a main) considering the tourist area, Marco nailed it!! The transfer back went smoothly and our ride back to our hotel was waiting on arrival. A great day all round and highly recommended. Thank you Marco xx.

Incredible and Easy trip to Machu Picchu

This is a perfect trip to take if you’re not sure how to organize a trip to Machu Picchu. The team takes care of all the different steps it takes to get to the site. Bus, train, more bus, ticket to the site and a guide. Then everything on the way back. Pick up and drop off to your hotel too. Plus they’re super easy to get in touch with to answer any questions. I ended up having a guide to myself by chance and he was amazing. Hector was super knowledgeable, he’s been doing guided tours to Machu Picchu for over 20 years. And the best part he was an amazing photographer! I definitely recommend Viajes Pacíficos !
