This activity will end right where it started.
Join your guide in central Copenhagen and set off on your half-day food tour of the city’s food repertoire and gastronomic heritage.

Having had a fairly staid culinary reputation, the Danish capital has recently emerged as a foodie's paradise, as local chefs turn to light, seasonal and innovative ingredients, and zingy, minimalist flavors rather than the stodgier, comfort Danish staples of the past.

Stroll around the buzzing streets and let your guide show you the locals’ best-loved eateries. The city’s boundary-pushing food scene is in a continuous state of flux, so food stops may vary on the day of your tour. The places mentioned simply give you an idea as to the types of eateries and outlets you might call at.

Work your way to the Torvehallerne indoor market and pause at Arla Unika, Copenhagen’s trendiest cheese vendor. Sample some artisan cheeses created in collaboration with Michelin-star-awarded chefs, and peruse the goodies. Then, head for the Bornholm Shop to run your taste buds past some caramels, preserve and licorice. Meander around the pretty Copenhagen Botanical Gardens and taste some crisp, Danish apple wine, before calling at the Aamanns café – where the customers dig into smørrebrød — tasty, rye sourdough bread open sandwiches topped with mostly organic and free-range ingredients. Saunter on to Nørrebro Bryghus, a beer connoisseur’s café and restaurant. Taste three home-brewed beers, and then sink your teeth into an organic hotdog bite at the Ecological Hotdog Stand. Finally, head for Summerbird Chocolate. One of Copenhagen’s most innovative makers of luxury chocolate and candy, this upscale chocolatier receives rave reviews from locals for its hugely moreish flødeboller – chocolate-encased marshmallows. After getting a real flavor of Copenhagen’s culinary delights, your tour ends back at the start point.

Julia was a wonderful guide who taught us so much about Copenhagen and also about the food and drink scene. The whole group was fantastic and we made wonderful memories on this tour. I would highly recommend this experience as a fun way to enjoy the city and to have some great food. It was a bit pricey but I feel we got value out of the investment.

Simon did an awesome job in the inclement weather. We were the all American crew. NJ, Philadelphia & LA groups. The market where we started was the BEST !! We started and finished here and we returned to purchase some items to make a dinner at the hotel as simple as a Charcuterie plate and other items on the tour .

This tour was amazing. We ate so much that by the end of the tour we were stuffed. Our guide shared with us lots of history of Copenhagen, which we loved. The open faced sandwiches were awesome. So glad we booked this tour.

More of a long walking tour

I Did not do research on this tour. The tour did not really advertise the amount of walking involved. Probably not an issue for most but, enough mentions in the comments to warrant a description change in title like culinary walking tour of Copenhagen. Foods and samples were great, beer was great. Did not get to see candy factory, as it was closed , and the hotdog venue was closed, had to have a street hot dog. Honey tasting probably needs to be at a honey store, and prepared for each person. The stick in the honey is probably unsanitary. This tour could have been 2 hours if we did not do the far away venues. Probably could have done beer at the close bar to the shops, and maybe add a wine tasting . We could have lunched at the un Mercato . Then we could have slowed way down and discuss the food more at each stop. I felt it was a long walking tour .

Meeting up at the fresh market and walking around Copenhagen to visit various spots was amazing: the food, the drink, the guides, the people, and Danish food and atmosphere! What else could you ask for— many thanks!

My daughter and I were visiting Copenhagen for the first time. Not knowing much about Nordic foods, we started with a food tour. Our tour guide Simon was so great, he was full of information about food, danish history, danish sports, & industry. We had so much fun and learned so much in our time with him. I would highly recommend starting your trip.
