Kayak Experience with Carnassa Tour in the Cinque Terre-Punta Mesco + Snorkeling

What a special tour, spectacular scenery, fabulous staff and the whole experience seemed much longer than 2 hours. We had a great time!

Tour operators told us the water was choppy and potentially unsafe. Advised us to reschedule or cancel. We were not able to cancel on viator. We were not informed till after the time passed, that we were not able to be refunded. Viator refused to refund.

It was a good way to see Monterosso from the sea and I enjoyed kayaking. Guides were reasonable but not fantastic. They also promise to provide water and snorkelling gear but I didn’t receive any water and the snorkelling gear did not appear to be sanitised between uses. I would recommend it but tour should not say it includes additional extras if they aren’t actually included.

Great trip, engaging tour guide. Maybe could have used some more facts, especially from Monterosso's past, in particular the world war 2.

Our family of 5 ( kids 16, 14 and 11) really enjoyed this tour. It was a beautiful sunny day out on the ocean and lovely to paddle along, taking in the sights if the beautiful coastline. Our wonderful guide Chiara shared with us some great insights about the history and landmarks of Monterosso and its coastline, as well as taking us to see some great caves and a lovely cove where we snorkelled in the calm warm ocean and saw lots of fish. It was great for all skill levels and Chiara kindly took care of those of use who were a little slower paced, chatting happily as we kayaked taking the chance to share more of her wealth of knowledge about this stunning part of Italy.

To begin, let’s get something straight … this is NOT a tour. It’s a kayak rental that is accompanied by pointless “guides”. We arrived right on time, as instructed. Chiara and her totally *useless* helper didn’t even bother to introduce themselves. Within 3 minutes of arriving, we were already in a kayak without a clue of the plan. We were given some gear (life vest + waterproof bag but no water as promised), thrown into a kayak and told to paddle into the ocean. And so we did. The seat of my Kayak was not properly installed so I had to fix it myself in the middle of the water. Good thing I’ve kayaked before so I knew what I had to do. If I was new to this I’d have been lost and miserable. Throughout the session, Chiara and her helper did little to no talking. Other than a line or two at the start they stayed silent, paddling away as if they wanted to get away from the group. They both seemed incredibly unbothered and bored. While Chiara tried her best to give out the occasional smile, her helper was literally irritated the entire time. I have never seen someone with a more sour face than her in my life. She made the entire group feel uneasy, which I think is just incredibly selfish of her. Given she did absolutely nothing throughout, I’m really not sure why she was there in the first place. When one of the participants fell into the water she got so mad and started swearing in Italian… instead of going to help. I think she may have missed the memo that she’s there to guide and help. Ultimately kayaking in the sea is a pleasant experience and I recommend people do it…. Just not with Chiara and her helper. You’ll just be uncomfortable, feel rushed and learn nothing. Do yourself a favour and find another guide. Chiara and her friend are to be avoided! Both useless!!

Great experience for the whole family. Our guides were really informative and friendly. We will definitely be back!
