Convenient and well-priced transport, freedom to explore or add on
, Feb 2020
This was exactly what we were looking for: transportation and freedom/options. We researched ways to get to Chichen Itza ourselves by ADO bus and it was about the same price as this tour. Way better decision to do this because convenient and faster (2.5 hours versus 3.5 hours). Also no lines when we arrived in Chichen. Pick up was on time and convenient at 7:20AM and we arrived around 10AM. We liked the short bit of history (~10 min) our guide Juan Carlos gave on the bus. This package only pays for transport and Mayaland entrance. You pay for the tickets yourself (bring pesos). But you can choose to add a guided tour, lunch and cenote. Or do an independent morning/afternoon yourself and be picked up in afternoon. Since we liked Juan Carlos, we decided to add his guided explanation to this package last minute. Glad we did because he took us around 4 sites, including the main temple and ballcourt and was very knowledgeable. Then he gave us free time to explore. We skipped the lunch so we had 2.5 hours to explore the rest of the sites (around 30 total) ourselves. Since we were pretty satisfied with what we saw by 1:30, we decided to add and join the cenote too. BEST DECISION and one of best part of our vacation. The cenote is called Tsukan and it was incredible. So clear and refreshing, beautiful, 60m deep, life vests included in price. We went to a smaller, shallow cenote on another tour the day before and Tsukan was incomparably better. Overall, this was exactly what we wanted. It was convenient, comfortable transport and customizable. There is no pressure to add anything and the add-ons were very reasonably priced too. We're really glad we went with this option instead of going by ourselves on public transport. A great option for those that value time, independence, and choices.

Amazing customer service!!!
, Dec 2019
I really appreciated the customer service I experienced on this tour! I had a flight change which had me land in Cancun Airport the morning of the tour (vs. the day before). The tour folks were able to route me to a different meeting location that was very near the airport. It was perfect. I also appreciated the welcome suite where I could charge my phone and rest a bit before walking to Chichen Itza which was nearby. The bungalow area where the suite is located is fantastic! And finally, when it was time to return to Cancun, they were able to route me directly to my hostel location in downtown Cancun. All in all, a really great experience that took care of my transportation needs for the entire day!

This place is amazing! Tour was as described. Driver and guide were kind and knowledgeable. Recommend if you want a self guided experience.

I booked this 3 weeks in advance for my parents and I. They never showed up. And no one answered when the hotel staff tried to call them. So a total waste of money!

Excellent option for those who have trouble keeping up with a tour guide or who don't want to hear too much explanation. You will likely be driven with a few other tour-guide customers the van has max seats for 12 people but left to your own in the Mayaland Hotel upon arrival. We had to ask the guide where to buy tickets/entrance was but afterwards it was just us! Perfect as we love to stroll and walk around.

Long drive but very timely pickup. Once we got to Mayaland we were met by a hotel rep who helped secure our tickets. Wish we would’ve known cash only for tickets but there was an ATM. We enjoyed touring the Chichen Itza without a tour guide because we have kids who would not have liked it.

This was a great option for those who want more time at Chichen Itza to explore on your own without a guide. On a previous tour I only had an hour to see much of the site as too much time was spent with a large group eating lunch and visiting a cenote. My main complaint is that there was inadequate explanation at the Mayaland Hotel on what we had access to at their facility cenote, pool, towels, etc. This did not really matter too much as we were more interested in spending time inside Chichen Itza.

It was a wonderful time. We had the ability to add on the Cenote! Do it. I am glad we didn't have the guide. He was a bit tedious and it was nice to ditch him at the entrance. This is well worth the price.

After an on time pick up at our hotel we were off for a great day. we were greeted at the entrance of the Mayaland Hotel and promptly explained about the hospitality suite and how to enter the myan site. No huge sales pitch like I expected. We were offered the buffet for about 15 per person but chose to skip it. To enter the site it cost 240 pesos or 16 USD per person to get in so factor that into your price. The ruins were wonderful. Being able to explore on our own was a plus. There is so much information on the web and in the brochures found all over the area that we didnt need a guide. we were given a map and allowed to go at our own pace. When we were finished we went back to the hotel and lounged around the pool and watched the iguanas hang out. The only down side to the entire trip was all of the souvenir vendors. You cant walk 5 feet without someone asking you to buy the same trinkets but that seems to be the theme of the tourist areas. All of the vendors were lining the perimeter and trails for the site so you could walk freely through the area without tripping over them.

Chichen Itza is an amazing place, but I actually would not recommend this tour Firstly the organisation was terribly confusing with regard to times and meeting points. We completely missed the Cenote Xtoloc, partly because we ran out of time, and partly because we ended up confused as to whether or not it was even included in our tour! The souvenir sell started on the bus, as did the offer of a cheaper 'private tour' by the tour guide. We also were not offered a discount booklet 'with special discounts to restaurants, bars, stores and activities to use at Mayaland'. We didn't really have time to enjoy the Welcome suite, which in any case was again confusing to find and access. Basically it consisted of a water dispenser, a towel and access to a nice pool. Not sure where the botanical gardens even were. Lunch was OK but expensive for what it was, but is optional. All in all I think this tour is being over sold.
