Begin with pickup at your Cancun hotel, then travel down the coast towards Tulum. Stop at the Dos Ojos cenote, part of the massive cave and river system that flows through the Yucatan Peninsula. Suit up with snorkeling gear, and slip into the clear, fresh water—the water is roughly 77 degrees Fahrenheit (24°C) throughout the year, perfect for cooling off. Spot stalactites formed by centuries of flowing water, and follow a guide through accessible parts of the cave, which stretches 38 miles (61 km) through the rock.
Refuel with a Mexican lunch at a nearby restaurant, then continue to the archeological site of Tulum, a walled city with a dramatic, seaside setting. Take in the zoomorphic masks in the Temple of the Descending God, which honors an ancient Maya deity, then see the brilliant paintings in the Temple of the Frescoes. See the Castle, the ruins' most significant structure, and learn about the Tulum’s construction, fall, and eventual excavation. After visiting Tulum, return to Cancun, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
