Good Choice for us.

There were 2 couples traveling together on this tour. It was a Thursday/Friday tour. TravelMaker was the tour operator. Our guide, Boogie, was one of the best tour guides we have ever had. He was knowledgeable, outgoing, humorous and very organized. Since we had all cruised multiple times, we enjoyed his stories about his years working on Princess cruise ships. Our driver, Peter, was quite good. He knew many alternate routes to avoid the many long traffic delays. The first day went well. We were picked up at our hotel at 8:00 a.m. Despite traffic delays, the overall day’s timing was good. At Peles Castle, Boogie was able to get us to the head of the line. He guided our group of 8 and 5 from another TravelMaker group through the castle. He gave us a very good tour with lots of information in each room, without detailing every single item. Peles Castle is absolutely beautiful. In Brasov, Boogie took us on a walking tour, ending in the old town square. He gave us a recommendation for a restaurant for lunch. The restaurant had delicious food and wonderful service. We arrived at our hotel in Sighisoara just after 6:00 p.m. Hotel Sighișoara looked like an historic hotel but was comfortable. The second day did not go as well. The buffet breakfast at Hotel Sighișoara was fine. We met at 10:00 a.m. to begin our walking tour. When we were ready to leave, the van’s battery was dead. Our departure toward Bran Castle was delayed just over an hour. Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) is a traditional “must see”. It is much more touristy than Peles, and not nearly as beautiful. We chose one of Boogie’s suggested restaurants near Bran Castle for a late lunch. This restaurant was also very good. Due to traffic delays, we didn’t return to the hotel until 9:00 p.m. The only suggestion we had was to start an hour earlier on the second day.

We had a very fun and informative visit to Transylvania with our driver/guide Boogie. Sighisoara was a long drive, but so worth it. Such a lovely, historic town. Boogie’s personal touches made it a memorable experience. Would highly recommend.

Good way to see the three principal sites without too much time on the road by spreading it out over two days. We were the only customers on this particular trip so it effectively became a private tour. My only quibble is with the hotel the room was very basic.

The Most Amazing Romanian Tour

The sights and places you visit on this tour are enough reason to book it. We saw so many places and things that were so beautiful, it is impossible to put into words. Our tour guide, Boogie, was quite possibly the best tour guide we've ever encountered. The company scheduled the tour perfectly. There is so much to see in all of these places that it is impossible to see it all, but they showed us as much as time would allow, and we never felt rushed. I recommend this tour with great enthusiasm!

A very special time with an excellent guide, Serban Riga. Serban was so knowledgeable and entertaining! The scenery was beautiful, with amazing fall color. The medieval hotel was clean and comfortable with an excellent restaurant on site. Great way to see and experience Transylvania.

This was a truly informative and unforgettable trip. Our guide, Serban Riga was excellent. He shared his wealth of knowledge of the area and its very rich history, mixing it up with a lot of humor. He made sure we were comfortable, and had lots of time to take pictures. He accommodated us when we asked to stop to take roadside photos. We highly recommend this trip and our guide Serban. The two days is a comfortable pace and does not feel rushed, as there are a lot of places covered with ample time at each stop.

A good experience getting out of of...

A good experience getting out of of Bucharest for a few days. Our guide Matthew did a nice job guiding and driving our small group around. He has a great attitude, is very knowledgeable he's well-educated and certified as a guide, and enthusiastic about showing others this unique part of the world. I would say that while Brasov and Sighisoara are nice, picturesque places, there wasn't much going on in either town aside from one or two unique historical sites. Dracula's home, while historic, is a pretty cheesy tourist trap. Bran castle, on the other hand, was interesting and the highlight of the trip. Peles castle more of a palace is also oustanding! Keep in mind that while distances aren't too far, the drives between each site visit can be several hours due to the curvy types of country roads in these remote areas. I'd highly recommend bringing a large water bottle and headphones for those times when conversation is idle and people are tired in the car. Finally, the room is Sighisoara can best be described as rustic. While acceptable, don't expect any frills or super fluffy beds. Hotels are limited within the citadel and it's ideally located, so keep that in mind. You still have good wifi, don't worry. Overall I'm really glad we went on this tour and the experience was once in a lifetime. Hats off to Matthew for a great job!
