What’s up that mountain- take a hike and find out!
, Jun 2021
I loved being able to see up close what lives on the lush green mountain above the beach! It was really cool to learn about Hawaiian culture and the native plants too! Many thanks to Mark for being a great a caring guide
Great Hike

Great hike through multiple Hawaiian ecosystems. Mark, our guide, was very knowledgeable and super friendly. Kept a pace that was sustainable for everyone in the group. Highly recommend if you are looking to get back to real Hawaiian nature.

Fantastic experience learning about Kona crater and tube!

Mark, our guide was pleasant and very knowledgeable. Informative tour. Fun to learn about the different plant growth@topography, climbing thru the tube, the crater, the views. Great Mid level private hike. Highly recommend.
Hike to some "Crater Obvious" parts of the island!
, Apr 2021
This hike was the highlight of my trip to the Big Island. Mark was an excellent and very knowledgeable guide. He monitored our fitness level (we all said go, go go!) and helped us older folks when needed. There were five of us besides Mark and it was the perfect number during this pandemic. Each group had their own part of the bus going to and from the hiking area and masks were worn. There was ample hand sanitizer. Once out on the trail (not really a trail, but goat paths) it was easy to put the pandemic aside and focus on the natural beauty of the area. This is not a gentle walk in the park, but a serious hike and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see a seldom seen part of Hawaii and is i reasonable shape. Sunscreen is a must, as there is little shade.

Exploring the unknown!
, Apr 2021
This hike was a bit tougher than I had thought, but I ended up really enjoying every aspect of this hike! The cave was exciting. My kids loved it. Mark was full of information and fun to talk with. I am really glad we did this excursion and I would love to do others with this company!
Incredible Hike- An Absolute Must!
, Feb 2021
Literally one of the coolest experiences ever! Would definitely do either exodus with Hawaii Forest and Trail - our guide Taj was the best! I appreciated the indepth discussion about plant and animal species, history, and Hawaiian culture that helped us appreciate and understand so much on the rest of our time in the big island. This exclusive hike was beautiful and the portion at the cave was unforgettable. Do note that parts of the hike downhill can be tricky to keep your footing, so wear proper shoes and watch your step. Can't recommend this tour enough.
Great hike for nature enthusiasts😎

Gary was an amazing guide!! We had a blast. It was a bit more rigorous than we anticipated, but they supplied plenty of water, snacks and breaks. The views were breathtaking and the geological history is phenomenally demonstrated through stories and vistas. Our guide said very few locals even get to see these views. Highly recommend😆😆
Cool hiking tour

We had a great experience! Small group with a really cool guide from Missouri. He knew the area and history very well. There is some hiking involved but it's pretty low-impact. Would highly recommend!

This was terrific! We had originally booked a half day trip, but Donna actually phoned me in Spain from Las Vegas to tell me that the tour was now a full day, but that Viator would make up the difference in cost, if we still wanted to take it, as it wasn't on the original day, then called me back to confirm! We did take it, and the company collected us from our hotel, which we had not expected, and took us to their office, where we picked up the off-road vehicle. The driver, Danny, was Hawaiian, and told us lots of stories about Hawaii and the various lava flows. He took us through gates to where no private cars or tour buses could go and we saw ancient craters and lava tubes. We then went to a coffee plantation, where there was plenty of coffee on offer (I don't drink coffee, but never mind!) and a nice picnic lunch was provided. Again, we had not expected this. We were shown coffee trees and how they grow, and how the coffee was extracted from the beans. We also saw a beautiful chameleon living in one of the trees. The jeep we travelled in was not too uncomfortable-I had been worried about spending all day in it, but provided you held on tight to the safety straps, it was fine. Then we were taken back to our hotel when we returned to the office. Great tour, highly recommended.
