Our tour with Antonio was amazing!! He knew so many details about the history in Bergen and had lots of historical photos to show us about how the area looked in the past. We also learned great anecdotes about current life in Bergen. I would highly recommend this tour, you learn so much!
The best guide!

Emma was really knowledgeable about Bergen and its history and i loved that she took us to some of her favourite places to eat and drink. Really off the beaten track and not touristy at all.
We even went past Bergens best gelato place.......its the only gelato place in town!!

Our host Magda was very friendly and helpful, taking time to answer any random questions about Bergen and life here now as we thought of them. Would recommend this walking tour for anyone who wants a good insight into Bergen life.

Our tour included the Fortress, UNESCO warehouses, a walk through the narrow streets of old residential Bergen, and ended at the harbor. Our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She provided several good recommendations for lunch spots at the end of the tour. Well worth the time!
This guide needs more training.

The tour guide was very nice, but was not aware that most of the group was unable to hear most of what he said. As he led the group he spoke with his back toward everyone, and spoke in a low voice. I probably got about 25% of what he said. He seemed oblivious to it. I never even got his name!
Great tour! Highly recommend!

Antonio was a great guide and relaxed company. He knows everything about the city!!! We loved this tour and learned a lot of Bergen in the past and the modern city. He was willing to answer all questions. Great opportunity to learn about the city
Experience marred by poor weather

The bad weather marred our walking experience. The tour operator seems inexperienced in dealing with rainy weather. It would be good if they could provide disposal raincoats or large umbrellas. This tour is also not suitable for the older folks as it can be hard to keep up with the other younger members of the tour. The tour guide could also make an effort only to start explaining when the tour members have all arrived. In addition, if the tour operator could use a microphone, he or she would be more audible to the tour members. Finally, a better-planned walking route with some restrooms available along the way would be helpful. Thank you.
Response from Host , May 2022
Hello,
Thanks for your message. Firstly, let me apologise that you didn't find the tour exactly what you had expected. We will certainly take your feedback on board.
Being the rainiest city in Europe, we are going to experience some rainy days :) The walk is also graded as an intermediate walk, meaning there is some up and some down hill. Since we are only a small group, we don't want to use a microphone as that disrupts the flow of our tour being a 'small group, off-the-beaten-path' tour. Lastly, for a two hour walk we don't stop for restrooms as it is not necessary, but do know places to go should there be a request :)
I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in beautiful Norway and you are always welcome back to Bergen.

Rainy walk

It was quite a rainy day but we went for it anyway. Knowing a bit of the history was interesting although it was kind of hard to hear with it raining hard. We had some reprieve from it but only for a while. I would do it again on a sunny day if ever.
I Love Bergen Walking Tour.

We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.

Sorting, ranking, and search results
Viator wants to make your searches as relevant as possible. That’s why we offer many ways to help you find the right experiences for you.
On some pages, you can select how to sort the results we display and also use filter options to see only those search results that meet your chosen preferences. You’ll see explanations of what those sort options mean when you select them.
You’ll see some experiences with a “Promoted” badge, which means that the operators of those experiences have agreed to pay Viator more to have their experience highlighted.
If you see an Experience Award Winner label, the award is based on average review ratings, share of bookings with a review, and number of bookings through Viator over a 12-month period.
The importance of any one factor over any other in a sort order varies, and the balance is constantly being reviewed and adjusted. We’re always updating our systems and testing new ways to refine and improve your results to make them as relevant as possible to meet your needs.
